Pre-ACT Testing for Sophomores
All ADM High School sophomores will participate in Pre-ACT testing at the end of April, to help better prepare them for the ACT in the future. Here are 5 reasons that we believe that students should participate in Pre-ACT:
- The Pre-ACT can help facilitate early college planning and preparedness.
- The Pre-ACT ensures equitable access to practice for the ACT test.
- Schools that adopt the Pre-ACT see improved student readiness for college and careers.
- Pre-ACT scores identify students who are ready to succeed in advanced high school courses—including AP courses.
- Pre-ACT scores provide a baseline for measuring growth and to determine the impact of improvement efforts.
Testing dates are April 23rd & 24th. Students will be assigned to a testing date and are required to attend, unless a parent contacts us with permission for their student to opt out of testing. If you do not want your student to participate in testing, please email Mrs. Gill-Carreon before April 14th.
You can read more about the Pre-ACT here.

Career Day at ADM
ADM High School's Career Day is set for April 12th. We will be welcoming presenters in 30+ different career fields to speak with students about all things related to their careers. This event runs from 8:15am-12:00pm and our students will reflect on this experience with their advisors. We will have presenters in the areas of nursing, agriculture, law enforcement, photography, cosmetology, politics, dentistry, and more.
Students can use this experience in place of their "job shadow" for their portfolio. We cannot wait to provide such a great learning experience for our ADM students!
DMACC College Credit Transfer Presentation
DMACC is holding a presentation for students & families on April 17th at 6pm via Zoom, to provide more information on transferring credits from DMACC to perspective colleges. Please see the message from DMACC below:
"Transferring college credits earned at your high school can seem overwhelming, confusing and can vary from each institution. Join DMACC, a representative from the Iowa Regents and a representative from Iowa private colleges via Zoom to virtually discuss frequently asked questions about transferring DMACC credit and what you should be asking colleges about the process.
The presentation will discuss both completing a degree at DMACC before transferring to a 4-year institution and transferring college credit directly to a 4-year institution after high school as well as questions regarding pass/fail, etc."
Please see your high school counselor if you might be interested.

School-Based Therapy at ADM
ADM is partnering with Family Connections out of Council Bluffs to bring a therapist on-site to all 5 of our ADM schools. If you are interested in having your student referred for school-based therapy, please reach out to your student's ADM High School counselor. You can learn more about Family Connections through the link here.
Family Connections will also be offering BHIS services to students and families who are interested and eligible. Behavioral Health Intervention Services are funded through Medicaid and provide families with assistance in navigating emotional and behavioral challenges. BHIS providers collaborate with families to help meet the needs of the entire family unit. For more information on BHIS services, please visit the link here or contact your high school counselor.

A Special Message from Dr. Tice
Greetings ADM Students & Families,
I introduced the 12 Questions for the High School Senior in the February newsletter. We covered Questions 1-3 last month. It is now March, and time for the next three questions. These twelve questions will help second semester seniors finish out strong, aware and competent. Each month will be three questions.
The 12 questions will help you:
- Enjoy your last few months in high school
- Create a plan to crush it in college, skilled trades, apprenticeship, etc.
- And most importantly, become your own best friend (always helpful to take a BFF to your next steps).
Questions 7-9:
7. What would happen if you had to spend 24 hours alone? No phone. No internet. No friends. Just you. Pay attention to how you answer this---do you like the conversations happening in your mind? In your heart? Treat yourself with the same kindness you treat others. Become your own best friend.
8. Who do you want to become? Don’t wait until the first day of college/training, etc. to ask this. Maybe you want a total transformation. Maybe it’s just leaning into who you already are. If you don’t decide this for yourself, you’ll find the influence of others who may have an oversized impact.
9. I wonder why… This sentence stem promotes empathic curiosity that will help every relationship you have. When someone lets you down or makes you mad—make this your starting point. There is often so much more going on behind the scenes than the story you see in front. Take a deep breath. Be empathic. I wonder why…
Check back next month for the final three questions before graduation for the ADM Class of 2024.
Let’s make dreams come true. Together.
With kind regards,
