Week of 18-25
NOTES FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Dear Titus Family,
What a fantastic week it has been at Titus Elementary! The excitement is truly in the air as we gear up for our upcoming Book Fair next week. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore new stories and discover a love for reading. Our library is decorated to the max and we can't wait to see our Tigers enjoying all the book fair has to offer. A special thanks to our outstanding librarian, Mrs. Paine, for all her hard work making this happen!
In addition to the Book Fair, we are thrilled to announce our Truck or Treat event happening next Thursday night! Be sure to sign up for a spot and join us for an evening filled with fun and community spirit. It's a great way to celebrate the season and make lasting memories together.
Wishing you all the best for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend!
Warmest wishes.
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski
Hello Titus Community.
The fall weather is upon us. I hope everyone has been able to get outside and enjoy the beautiful October weather. I want to send a quick thank you to everyone who has reached out to me as we welcome our newest addition of the family, Kinsley. It has been amazing to me to walk through the halls and even hear some of the younger students say “congratulations!!!” I have been tired these last few weeks, but coming to Titus and getting back into the swing of things has been good for me.
One thing we started this week was our new cleanup system in the dining room. Students will be taking turns being a cleaner. The purpose of this is to get our dining room ready for our next group of students and to give Mr. Riley a hand! I have never seen kids so excited to have to clean. Perhaps, you can use this against them when you need their help at home. Ha!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Your Proud Assistant Principal,
Mr. Dave Filson

Book Fair Information
Dear Families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: October 21st – October 25th
Location: Titus Library
Family Event schedule and location: October 24th Trunk-or-Treat and Shop the Fair (6pm-8pm)
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/florencedtituselemschool
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.
When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called
Share the Fair™. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books
from the Fair. Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever. Happy reading,
Mrs. Paine

PS: Need one more reason to visit the Book Fair? Every purchase at the Fair benefits our school!

Veterans Day Information
Titus Families- Are your family’s veterans on the Titus Wall of Honor?
In November, the windows of the rotunda will be filled with pictures of United States military personnel all related to Titus students or staff. If you have a family member who served or is currently serving in any branch of the United States military, please scan and email a picture of them (picture size 4x6 or smaller) along with the information below.
Pictures need to be emailed to Mrs. Schorpp hniemeyerschorpp@cbsd.org marked Wall of Honor by Friday, October 25th . Thank you!
Please note that if you sent in a picture in a previous year, you do not need to resend it. We keep them from year to year; however, if the child who initially brought in the photo has moved on to middle school, we may not have a copy of the picture.
If you need to update any information, such as additional children now attending Titus, or to check if we have the picture, please email Mrs. Schorpp at hniemeyerschorpp@cbsd.org Thank you!! Note: If your picture is turned in after the deadline, we cannot guarantee that it will make this year’s Wall of Honor or Photo Story slide show.

FOR SECURITY REASONS, YOU MUST RSVP.

ABSENCES AND APPOINTMENTS
TITUS SCHOOL DAY
SCHOOL HOURS REMINDER
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY ...
Please be aware that the school day begins at 8:35 AM in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If you are a car rider in the morning, it is recommended that children are dropped off no later than 8:30 AM in order to get to their classrooms for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. If a student arrives in their classroom beyond 8:35 AM, they are considered tardy. Parents will need to come into the building to sign their child in if they arrive after 8:35 AM.
The adults supervising the car-rider drop-off line will be on duty until 8:32 AM. Students dropped off after 8:32 AM will more than likely not be able to make it to their classrooms on time for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. Also, for safety reasons, students arriving to school prior to 8:15 AM, need to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. We ask that all students wait with their family member in the drop off line until 8:15 AM.

FLEXIBLE INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS
"Flexible Instructional Days" After First District Closure for Weather or Other Emergency
A Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is designed for situations where school buildings need to close due to weather or other emergencies, but learning can still continue at home. CBSD will not use a FID until after the first day schools are closed due to weather or another emergency. We will only use the FID plan if the entire district is closed, not for closures affecting just one school. Families and students will have a plan and expectations to follow should a FID be called. LOCK SCREEN CONTEST
Submissions for Next Round of CBSD Lock Screen Contest Due 10/20
Congrats to Tohickon 9th grader Greidy Hernandez for winning the first round of CBSD's lock screen contest! Her original artwork is now featured on CBSD devices through the rest of the month. The district now invites students to try their hand in the next round of the contest, inspired by CBSD's "Portrait of a Graduate" Effective Communicators attribute. 24-25 CALENDAR
Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
New This Year: Limits on Due Dates for Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
In past years, the district has notified faculty in the week or weeks prior to religious or cultural observances to ensure they are cognizant of these events when assigning schoolwork. This year, the district has shared a year-long calendar of these observances with faculty and set guidelines on when no homework or summative tasks should be due.
Technology Fees
Device Usage Fees Due by October 30
A friendly reminder to families who have yet to pay the device usage fee this school year: the fee is due by the end of the month. The elementary student fee is $15/year, while the fee for students in grades 7 and 10 is $60, which covers three years. Prorated fees apply for new secondary students. If you need financial assistance, please visit our website for details. Thank you for your cooperation. Next steps here: https://www.cbsd.org/1to1fee
ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Regular School Attendance is Critical for Student Success and Well-Being
As we begin the 2024-25 school year, CBSD wishes to remind families of important information regarding attendance. Pennsylvania's school laws, like Act 138 of 2016 and the updated Act 16, outline what is required for mandatory school attendance and procedures to follow when students are absent or late. Learn more

VOLUNTEERS
DON'T FORGET CLEARANCES ...
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child's welfare or has direct contact with children. Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Central Bucks School District required the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering during the school year. Approved volunteers are given an identification card to be presented at the school (along with your photo ID, such as a driver's license) when volunteering. Please allow 7-10 days after you have submitted your online application for receipt of the ID card.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district website by clicking here.
