Dec. 17th-24th SNYM News
Welcome to the St. Nick's Youth Ministry Weekly Update
We get to celebrate the Mass for the 4th Sunday of Advent AND the Nativity of the Lord.
And for some of us, we can celebrate BOTH on the same day!
This is a wonderful time of great anticipation for our Youth & Teens, and while they are excited for the gifts they get to give and receive at Christmas, my prayer is that they continue with their personal preparations for the coming of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. -Beth

We Couldn't Do It Without YOU!
Thank You to our very VERY generous parishioners for your support in helping us to provide a joyous Christmas to our Adopted Family of 2023!

Special thanks to Rochelle Renner for her assistance in making this possible for our Youth, our Parish, and our Adopted Family!
MIDDLE SCHOOL/ EDGE GROUP
RECAP FOR DEC. 17
We began our morning together in the presence of Christ with Adoration lead by Deacon Ron.
We then returned to the Youth Room to watch The True Meaning of Advent (video linked below).
Then we celebrated Rayne, Evelyn, and Delilah as they each chose a prize for completing their Scripture Search! Next, we had our Cookie Swap with so many delicious cookies provided by the Youth!
Then, we rushed to play the Saran Wrap Ball Game (videos linked below). When leaving the Youth received a gift and flyers for upcoming events with the Servidoras (flyers in photos below).
We had (as Fr. Mike said in the video) a Merry ADVENT!
HIGH SCHOOL/ YOUTH GROUP
RECAP FOR DEC. 17
Then we moved to the Social Hall for our Cookie Swap! What an incredible spread these Teens provided once again! Then it was time for our Gift Exchange! (video linked below)
Unfortunately we did not have enough time for all of our plans, so the HSYG voted to open the Youth Room during Christmas Break for a Make-Up Day! We'll play a game, an Escape Room, and social/ free time. (1-4pm on Friday, Dec. 29th)
We had a wonderful 3rd Sunday of Advent with one of my most favorite things... the Teens filling the Church with their laughter and joy!
LOOKING FORWARD
Our FIRST First Friday will be on January 5, 2024
Beginning in January, on the First Friday of each month the Youth will be invited to complete a service project and enjoy the evening together.
Youth & Teens (from EDGE & HSYG) are invited to join us in the Youth Room 5:30-8:30pm on Friday, January 5th!
This will be an opportunity for the Youth & Teens to be together as they complete a service project for our parish. Pizza will be provided.

INFORMATION
YOUTH MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS
Per the Diocese policy for the safety of everyone, a minimum of 2 adults are required to be present for all Youth Ministry activities.
Ideally we would have at least 4-6 volunteers (preferably more), allowing for at least 1 assistant present for the HSYG one Sunday per month. We are also still in need of at least 1 more assistant for the EDGE class.
While the search to locate others who have current certification with the Diocese is ongoing, we have reached a point where we need to request that parents assist on a rotating basis so that we can continue to safely offer HSYG.
Please consider completing your certification, and/ or asking individuals who you think would be a willing volunteer. Or, you can submit suggestions for me to contact.
REQUIRED BY THE DIOCESE
All youth ministry volunteers must have current certification for the course of Serving Vulnerable Populations and a Criminal History Record Check on file with the Diocese. More information can be found by visiting Adult Training on the Diocese of Fairbanks website. Diocese of Fairbanks - Adult Training - Fairbanks, AK
