Staff Position Notices
Tena koutou katoa,

“Tūrukihia tou ake tiketike.” Pursue your personal excellence.

Congratulations to Ardelle Williams for being the successful applicant for the Year 3-4 Auraki classroom position. We are excited to have her join our junior whanau and she will make a valuable addition to our team.
TKOTP Rebranding Project
This exciting project will see the kura equipped with a new strategic branding
programme that will help define and communicate the special and unique attributes of
the kura, helping accentuate its points of difference and the things that set Te Kura ō Te
Pāroa a part from other schools.
If you would like to be a part of our rebranding survey please contact knathan@paroa.school.nz.
School upgrade
It is official whānau! Our school rebuild has been confirmed!
Thank you to members of our school community for your efforts in communicating with the government and for sharing our story.
Now the future generations will benefit from a better learning environment. It's heartening to see such positive outcomes for the tamariki and mokopuna of our kura.
Here's to a bright future for Te Kura o Te Paroa School!
"Ma whero, ma pango, ka oti te mahi."
At TKoTP on Monday 6/5/24 we had 88% of tamariki attending and present. This is only 2% off the Ministry of Education expectation. Ka pai whanau!
We had 0.2% justified absent, 2% unjustified absence and 1% truant.
Justified absence is when absence fits school policy like tangihanga, transition plans.
Unjustified absence is when absence is explained but it does not fit school policy e.g. had a late night, out with whanau, wouldn't come to school, day off for birthday.
Truant is when tamariki are away and no message is at the office or classroom.
If a student misses one day of school every two weeks, they miss 4 weeks each year and a whole term by the time they are 6. As a parent or caregiver, you, alongside our school, play a key role in building strong habits of regular school attendance.
All students are legally required to attend school every day and it is a shared responsibility to make sure students attend and engage in learning from when they first start school. As we enter 2024, every day of school matters.
You must let the school know if your child is going to be absent for a day or intends to be absent for a portion of the school term for whatever reason, like a tangi or medical procedure. Family holidays or taking time off for extracurricular activities (not organised by school) are not acceptable reasons for being absent.
If you're struggling at home with getting your child to school, talk to us! Our school is committed to supporting your child to attend school and building a culture that fosters excellent attendance by having:
• School staff who have strong relationships with students and whānau.
• A school culture that recognises your child and your family for who they are, where they come from and who they want to be.
• A school community that does everything to make sure students are at school, and they are participating, and progressing in their education.
Student Attendance
Whānau please contact the kura when your tamaiti is away.
When you are reporting absences please give students full name, class, reason and how many days away.

Every day counts.
Attendance + Attitude = Success.
