Principal's Corner
February 2025
Greetings, Lions family!
The past month has been a whirlwind. After kicking off the second semester with a historic snowstorm, we dove headfirst into learning. Our teachers are working hard to prepare our students for the End-of-Course exams. Last semester, we saw growth in nearly all areas of the EOCs, and we are striving to continue this growth. We celebrated our 1st semester students who performed well on the EOCs by having a week of treats. All students who made As received a Chick Fil A lunch, Bs received a breakfast biscuit, Cs received a cupcake, and Ds received a doughnut. We also celebrated our honor roll students and students with no referrals by providing ice cream and a snack bar. Our teachers are continuing to master their craft by working regularly with consultants from American Alliance for Innovative Solutions (AAIS), a nationally recognized educational consulting firm. The consultants offer professional development sessions that aid in increasing engagement and rigor for all students. Athletically, we are excited to announce that our varsity boys' basketball team is the undefeated Region III champions! Both our girls' and boys' teams are currently competing in post-season play. We hope the community will show its support and come watch our athletes compete. As always, go Lions!

Chance Graham
Chance Graham is a well-known senior around the halls of Loris High. Having completed all of his educational years at Loris schools, Chance has made many friends with both students and staff. Chance always has a smile and a funny story to share with his peers! Chance is well-known for his outstanding school spirit and his love for the Lions. In his spare time, Chance enjoys watching football and other sports and being with his older brother, Tucker. Chance also enjoys watching television and playing video games. Chance says another favorite hobby of his is getting sweet tea from McDonald’s. Chance enjoys working his job with Mrs. Wanda and rest of the LHS custodial staff. He is a hard worker and does a great job in keeping LHS clean! Chance’s favorite teacher at LHS is Ms. Jennifer Long because she always helps him. Chance says his favorite memories of high school include his best friend Ethan, who graduated last year. Chance says he misses seeing Ethan at school everyday. Chance has been most inspired by his parents because they believe in him and have taught him how to work. After Chance graduates and his time at LHS ends, he hopes to help his older brother with his landcare business.
Miguel Oakley
Miguel is a sophomore who is making the most of his high school years. He plays 4 sports (cross country, football, wrestling, and soccer), is involved with the Peer Mentor program, and performs well academically. In his spare time, he enjoys working out, playing sports, and assisting his uncle with auto mechanic jobs. Miguel says he loves learning how to fix cars. A few interesting facts about Miguel are that he is one of the youngest students in his grade and he has 9 siblings. Miguel’s favorite class and teacher at LHS is weightlifting with Coach Mance because he enjoys the subject and because Coach Mance is a great person to be around. Miguel says Coach Mance is always uplifting and encouraging. Miguel’s role models are his parents because they have taught him to trust God, to pursue his dreams, and to always do what is right in God’s eyes. Miguel recalls his favorite high school memories being after school sports practices and travelling to away games because these events have allowed him to build lasting relationships with his friends and teammates. After high school, Miguel hopes to attend Clemson University to pursue a degree in education. Miguel hopes to play sports at Clemson and eventually become a professional athlete.
