Construction Financing

Blue River Valley Schools relies on money from bonds to complete renovations and facility improvements. In the early 2000s, BRV used a bond to add on the junior high hallway on the north side of the jr./sr. high school in addition to the Auxiliary Gym and stage. In 2023, BRV took out another bond to renovate the elementary classrooms, district office, and maintenance area. Blue River Valley has used money from bonds in recent years to create secure entrances in both buildings, upgrade the tennis courts, upgrade the agricultural barn, and replace the high school roof. We also use some money from bonds to purchase technology items like our student devices and cameras. If you are following school financing, the Assessed Value in our area did go up (which will cause the personal tax rate to decrease some). Many schools in our area are taking out bonds in 2024. BRV will not be taking out a 2024 bond. Feel free to call or email Mrs. Dickerson if you have further questions.

Elementary Renovation

Every classroom will have a much-needed renovation. This will include taking our walls up to decking, new ceiling grids, new ceiling tiles, flooring, and paint. Each room will also have a mounted BENQ (digital display) board and whiteboards. In addition to the classrooms, the center section our our building will have a Title 1 area, STEM lab, robotics room, and enclosed media center. The classrooms in the cafeteria will be redone to include a room for Art, Band, and Music. Each of our pod restrooms will also be getting a much-needed facelift with stalls in each restroom with a community sink in the hallway.

District Office

The district office renovation will move the staff to one central location on the west side of the school. The office will include a small conference room, reception area, and offices fo district staff. In addition to the district office, the construction also includes a maintenance area with a door for deliveries.

Tennis Courts are Almost Complete

Many of our opposing teams have been very impressed by our new tennis courts. Thank you to Swoveland Excavating, Leslie Coatings, and American Steel. We still have a few items to finish up over there. As a community member, please feel free to use our tennis courts if we do not already have events. We kindly ask that you clean up all of your trash as you leave.
