FCMS EXPRESS
Week of February 3, 2025
From Mr. Liggett
FCMS Family,
As we move into February, I would like to remind everyone that your best effort is what makes FCMS stronger. If you are struggling with academics then please reach out to your teacher through email or personal communication. This is a great reminder for students and families alike about the importance of effort, communication, and staying on top of academics. It’s so positive to see that the school is highlighting the hard work of both students and teachers, especially with the recognition of our “Students and Teachers of the Month” for February. Students chosen by teachers to become our “Students of the Month” include Alyssa Eckerle (6th grade), Caleb Marshall (7th grade), and Steeley Galyen (8th grade). Our “Teachers of the Month” are Mrs. Ariens and Mrs. Schneider. We are grateful to have these people as part of our learning community at FMCS. They have truly made a positive difference in the lives of others.
Upcoming Events
The upcoming February events sound like a great mix of academic and extracurricular activities to keep everyone engaged.
5th - Early Dismissal, PLC
5th - Academic Team Meet @ 3:30 in FCMS Library
6th - Midterm
13th - Candid Photos for the yearbook
17th - President’s Day/Snow Make-up Day IN SESSION
21st - FFA Friday - SRT
24th-28th - DNR Boaters Education (Travis Wooley) 7th/8th PE
As always, please communicate with the main office on any concern you might have related to your child's success. As we move through this semester, I encourage all students to take advantage of the many opportunities available to them, whether it's participating in extracurricular activities, seeking help from teachers, or getting involved in school events. Every day is a chance to learn, make new connections, and be the best version of yourself.
To our dedicated staff, thank you for your continued hard work and commitment to excellence in education. Your efforts truly make a difference in the lives of our students, and I appreciate your unwavering support.
To our families, thank you for being an integral part of our school community. We are grateful for your partnership and the role you play in supporting your child’s educational journey.
Together, we will continue to foster a positive and welcoming environment where all students feel valued, respected, and motivated to succeed. If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

From 6th Grade
Mrs. Ariens
Mrs. Ariens’ ELA classes are doing a novel study on Blood on the River, a historical fiction account of the Jamestown settlement in the early 1600’s. After reading about sassafras root, students sampled sassafras candy. This resulted in mixed reactions. Many reported it tasted like root beer barrel candy. Mrs. Ariens compared it to black licorice.
