ECHS December 2024 Newsletter
ECHS Students and Parents,
Students, on behalf of the staff we wish you all the best of luck on finals next week. We know you will all do very well.
December and the end of the calendar year is typically a time for reflection. As you reflect on your accomplishments I hope you all consider your journey so far this year. For our first-term students, you have successfully transitioned to the adult world of college. For our seniors, you have spent the first term finalizing your post-high school goals and in six short months, you will be graduating from high school. You all have much to be proud of. I hope you all enjoy a restful Winter Break, and take some time to celebrate your hard work and achievements. Looking back on this past year, I feel incredibly proud to work with such a dedicated group of students, supportive families, and staff.
With appreciation
Michael Crandall
Principal, Early College High School

Tuition and Your MyPCC Account
Any remaining balance showing on your mypcc account is either for items that you charged to your account, like a parking pass, or course fees for those of you approved to take more than 16 credits.
If you have a balance on your account, please make sure to pay those fees ASAP to avoid a hold on your account from PCC.
Please check in with our office or your counselor if you have any questions about balances on your account.
PCC Inclement Weather Guidelines
At this time of year classes can be impacted by weather-related closures. Below is information about PCC's inclement weather guidelines and how PCC communicates any weather-related delays or closures.
Campus closures or delays are determined by PCC, not your home high school or district. It is possible that PCC and your school district have different announcements and, if that is the case, you should follow the PCC announcement to determine if classes are canceled or delayed.
PCC will announce delays or closures to local media, they will post information on the PCC website, and they will email students. They will also send flash alerts to the phones of any students who have signed up for that service. If you are interested, you can sign up here: https://www.pcc.edu/about/announcements/closure-information.html
Delays or closures can sometimes only impact in-person classes with hybrid or online class sessions continuing as scheduled. In their announcement, PCC will include whether online/hybrid classes remain scheduled or are canceled.
We recommend that students check their PCC email and their D2L class pages for messages from professors about assignments, tests and/or make-up work expectations in the event of a delay or a closure.
We recognize that some students’ commutes can be difficult during inclement weather. If classes are in session and it is unsafe for travel from your location, students should email their professor and let them know about your situation and that you cannot travel.
This link will take you to the PCC webpage with detailed information about weather-related closures at PCC.

FAFSA or ORSAA Completion Workshop, December 18 @ RC and December 19 @ SYL
ECHS will be hosting a FAFSA or ORSAA Completion Workshop in December.
- December 18 @ Rock Creek, 5:00 - 6:30 PM
- December 19 @ Sylvania, 5:00 - 6:30 PM
Please pre-register by December 17 for either event to ensure your spot. Due to computer and space limitations, we are asking that only the student and one parent attend this event. Completing the FAFSA works best when the process is started by the student. More information will be sent to students/parents once registered for the event.
Unsure if you need to complete either the FAFSA or ORSAA? Please complete this short quiz. Students/parents only complete one.
Students will need to create an FSA ID to access FAFSA. It is best to start this process one week before this workshop.
This document provides information on which parent's information will be needed for the FAFSA/ORSAA. Based on this information, one or both parents will need to create an FSA ID. It is best to start this one week before this workshop.
