Principal's Message-
As we wrap up Quarter one there is already SO MUCH to celebrate! Staff, visitors, and volunteers are constantly sharing their observations about our students’ friendliness, positive collectivism, and ownership of our school. I see kids trying their best, leaning into staff guidance, and most of all, celebrating growth in themselves and others. One of the greatest joys as a principal is to witness the learning journey for each child! The Book Fair has been another pocket of joy seeing families enjoying the excitement of reading and writing. The more one reads, the stronger their writing also becomes : ) Writing is an area of focus schoolwide!
REMINDER: ParentVue is your main access for your child’s quarter one progress. There will not be a mailed home progress report so contact our office for support accessing ParentVue and/or your child’s teacher for any questions related to your child’s learning status. Conferences are just around the corner! Sign-ups will be sent in the next few days!

Survey for Next School years Calendar
As HSD shared in the October 14 Hot News, HSD is facing a shortfall of $9.5 million in the 2024-25 school year. We are implementing a number of actions to reduce expenditures accordingly, with a goal of avoiding direct impact to students. Current unknowns are how the outcome of bargaining with both of our employee unions will affect expenditures. We encourage advocacy in the 2025 Legislative Session for stable and adequate funding of K-12 education. Stay tuned to the Budget Matters page of our website for updates and resources.
Canned Food Drive
Once again we will hold a food drive for the North Plains food bank starting on Wednesday, Nov. 6th - 20th. The winning class gets to take a walking field trip to our local Food Bank to organize the food donated from our community on Friday, Nov. 22nd. Ice Cream sandwiches to celebrate as well! Lead contact is Brenda Bottema if you would like to help and/or have questions!
Every month on the first Thursday, Lucky to Serve has a fundraiser at Zesty Carts in Forest Grove. There is BINGO in the covered common area. You can get dinner and join us, it is a lot of fun! The next game is Thursday, Nov. 7th from 6-8pm. If you bring a Lego set to donate, they will give you 3 free cards! Bring two Lego sets and you will get you 6 free cards! See flyer about our event.
