North Berwick Read-A-Thon 2025!
Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday February 24, 2025.
Tomorrow we will send home fliers on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/313933323638/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope everyone participates.
NBES Hundreds Day Celebration 🐻
We’ll be celebrating our 100th day of school on Thursday, February 27th, with our annual fundraising event! Each class has been collecting 100 specific items to donate to three local community organizations: MHA Backpack, NB Food Bank, and Big Love, One Community Food Stand. You can find the list of collections for each homeroom below. We hope you’ll consider supporting this important cause. We’ll be showcasing our collections during a special assembly at 1:30 PM on Thursday, 2/27. Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community!

Flu Cases
We are seeing an increased numbers of the flu across all of our grade levels. Please refer to the CDC fact sheet for information: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/index.html
Please keep your children home once they begin to show any flu-like symptoms and contact Nurse Hamel.
Looking for ways to stay active this winter?
Check out WinterKids - a great resource for families looking to keep healthy and active in any season!
Healthy Snacks
We are noticing that many of our students are bringing sugary snacks and candies into school. Please do your nest to provide healthy and nutritious snacks for brain fuel for the school day. We know the foods children eat impact their ability to learn and focus in the classroom. Please reach out to Nurse Hamel if you need support with providing healthy options at home.
PTO Corner
The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, 3/10 at 5:00PM in the Art Room. We are also offering babysitting for your convenience. We hope to see you there! Can't make it in person? Here's the virtual link.

Parking Lot Courtesy - A Friendly Reminder for Everyone’s Safety
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to take a moment to emphasize a few important safety reminders regarding our parking lot and carpool procedures. These measures are in place to ensure the safety of all our students, staff, and families. During the winter months, students have extra winter gear that they are transporting from school and home. This will inevitably cause a bit of a delay as we escort our youngest learners safely to their cars. Please take a moment to review the following:
Respect Bus Loading Zones
When a school bus is loading or unloading students, please remember that it is illegal to pass the bus while its stop-arm is extended and the red lights are flashing. We ask that you remain patient and wait until the bus has safely completed its stop before continuing.Live Pick-Up Procedures
If you are participating in our live pick-up at dismissal, please pull your car up as far as you can to allow for the smooth flow of traffic. We kindly ask that you remain in your vehicle, and a staff member will escort your student directly to you.Do Not Drive Around Other Vehicles
For everyone's safety, please refrain from pulling out of the line and driving around other cars. We’ve observed this happening daily, and it can be dangerous, especially when children are walking near vehicles. There have been instances where cars have had to brake suddenly as children enter from the opposite side of the line. Let's work together to keep all our students safe!Patience is Key
We understand that everyone is eager to get on their way, but please wait patiently as the line moves. Our staff members are trained to direct traffic and ensure smooth and safe movement. If necessary, they will direct you around cars to help keep things moving efficiently.
We truly appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines. By working together, we can ensure that our parking lot remains a safe environment for all students and families. Thank you for your attention to these important safety matters.
