Phonics and Sight Words
Practice looking and listening for Bossy R words this week! Watch this video, and then see if you find some bossy R words in a book.
Math
Subtraction:
Using your deck of cards, numbers 2-10 (you can make aces the 1 if you want to), play Name the Difference. Turn all the cards over and take turns picking 2 at a time. Subtract the bigger number from the smaller one, and say the difference. If you get it right, you get to keep the cards.
Social Studies
Make a map of your house! Watch with Ms. Tinker while she shows you an example.
Tuesday, May 5
Reading
Read a NON-FICTION book.
*Find 1 new vocabulary word in the book, and write it down. Have someone help you find out what it means.
Writing
Prompt:
Would you rather go for a hike, or swim in the ocean? Give 2 reasons why.
Phonics & Sight Words
Choose 6 sight words from the list you are practicing. Write a sentence with each of your sight words.
Math
Subtraction:
Play Top-It (subtraction style). Divide the cards in half. Each player turns over their top card. Subtract the bigger number from the smaller number. Whoever yells out the answer first, gets the cards. Play until 1 player has all the cards. (ex: I have 2, you have 5. 5-2=3 I yell out “3!”)
Social Studies
Using the map you made yesterday. Write out the directions for how you would get from your bedroom out to the mailbox.
Wednesday, May 6

Play Bossy R Bingo. Make your own bingo card, or copy the one given below. Roll the dice, and color in any square that has that Bossy R. Make sure you read the word first! See who can get a Bingo first! (If you don’t have a dice, you can just make number cards).
Math

Number Stories
Get a handful of small objects in your house. (Blocks, pennies, paper clips, etc.) Tell a subtraction number story using the objects. Repeat 5 times.
Example: I was riding my bike and I saw 4 acorns. But, a squirrel took 2 of the acorns. Now there are only 2 left.
Social Studies
