Weekly Message
Happy Paraprofessional's Day!
On Tuesday, April 2nd, we will celebrate National Paraprofessional Day—a day to recognize and honor the backbone of our school community. Our paraprofessionals play a vital role in ensuring the safety, health, and success of our students. They are an integral part of our educational teams, working tirelessly each day to support instruction, manage behaviors, and create safe, welcoming environments where our students can thrive.
To show our appreciation, we will be hosting a celebratory breakfast across all sites to honor their dedication and hard work. We also encourage all staff to wear BLUE in support of our Paras! It is a small token of our gratitude for all that they do to enrich the lives of our students and strengthen our school community.
Finally, we stand fully behind our paraprofessionals and the UFT’s advocacy for fair pay. Their work is invaluable, and we hope that the rally at City Hall this week brings the much-needed awareness and support from our elected officials to ensure that our paraprofessionals receive the fair compensation they deserve.

Staff Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
- I want to take a moment to thank those majority of staff members and sites who consistently arrive on time and go above and beyond for our students and school community. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we appreciate your ongoing commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for our students!
- As a reminder, (for most classroom titles) arrival time is 8:00 AM across all sites. This means that by 8:00 AM, you should be in your classroom or actively greeting students, ready to start the day.
Dismissal is at 2:20 PM from Tuesday to Friday. To ensure the safety of our students, support for your colleagues, and uphold the highest level of professionalism, it is essential that staff remain on-site and do not leave before 2:20 PM - unless there is a directive from an Admin/Coordinator.
- By adhering to these expectations, we can continue to have a safe, structured, and professional learning environment for all.

The SETSS providers must collaborate and navigate between both the P177 site and their class sites. They must also work closely with the general education teachers offering support, supplemental instruction, and adaptations to help our students succeed. They modify how the material is taught (or delivered), ensuring that the student can access the general curriculum just like their peers. They adapt the content, methodology, and delivery of instruction to meet the needs of the individual students. The support students receive from the staff helps them adapt, grow and achieve great success.
The students spend the majority of their day in classes with their peers following the general education curriculum, socializing, and taking standardized tests. Our 8th graders even take the Regents! It is an amazing achievement when we can promote our 5th grade self-contained students to our inclusion class. The dedication, collaboration and hard work of all of our SETSS providers is apparent in their students' levels of success at each of the sites.
Thank you to our Inclusion Heroes!
