Bring Your Parent to School Day!
Friday, October 11th
Gower West Elementary School will host "Bring Your Parent to School Day", on Friday, October 11th, between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM! Parents of kindergarten through 4th grade students are invited to join us to experience a bit of a "day-in-the-life" of your Gower West student(s)! Preschool is not in session on Oct. 11th. Oct. 11th is also a half day. "Bring Your Parent to School Day" is a great opportunity to participate in class with your student whether it is a reading lesson, PE or one of their other specials. Due to the amount of parents that choose to attend we respectfully ask that you leave your younger children at home with another caregiver.
To ensure the safety and security of our building, parents must register HERE by Wednesday, Oct. 9th. If a parent is not pre-registered for this visit, the parent must present a driver's license prior to entering our school. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Since it is a half day many parents choose to take their child home with them following their visit. If you choose to do this you must sign your child out from the classroom before leaving the building.
Last year we had a full house so I encourage you to carpool, walk, park in the neighborhood west of the school or at Ashton Place in their west lot.
Attention Parents of New Preschool & ALL Kindergarten Students!
Please submit your completed health forms to Mrs. Anderson, Gower West Nurse, as soon as possible! The State of Illinois mandates that all incoming preschool and kindergarten students have a current physical and documentation of immunization on file before October 15, or be excluded from school. Kindergarten students also need an eye exam. Health forms and information can be found on the Gower West website. Please do not delay!

Junior Achievement is a program that offers age-appropriate curriculum that teaches financial literacy, community connectedness, and entrepreneurship. Parent volunteers will work with the teacher to set up a weekly 45-minute session for 5-6 weeks. All materials and training are provided. Minimal preparation required.
Second grade sessions will begin in October, and third grade sessions will begin in November. To volunteer, please complete this form as soon as possible.
