Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the MCR3 Staff!
This Week at MCR3
The Drama Club, under Mr. Visser's direction, had an amazing performance!
An Epic Battle in the Middle School!
The middle school students participated in a "Battle of the Nutcrackers!" They listened to two different versions of the Nutcracker suite (music played throughout the ballet). They listened to the original by Tchaikovsky and then a jazzy version by Eliington/Strayhorn. They then voted on which one did it best. The votes were close, but in the end the original suite by Tchaikovsky won!
Congratulations to Brooklyn Pendleton! She made the State Fair Community College
Trustee's List Honor Roll for the Fall 2024 semester!
FREE Digital Books, Magazines, and Audiobooks for the WHOLE FAMILY!
Did you know that we are members of Overdrive, which means our families have access to thousands of books that can be read on any digital device, including audiobooks and magazines--students and parents?! Here's all you have to do:
- Install the Sora app from the Apple or Google store, or go to soraapp.com;
- Use our setup code, morenetmo;
- Borrow a book and start reading or listening!
From the Shelf, you can see your books that you have borrowed or that are on hold, get to your notes and highlights, and more.
What a great resource for a reader (or listener) during Christmas break--enjoy!
Principal's Corner
Dear Tuscumbia School Community,
Happy Friday! I can’t believe it, but we have officially completed the first semester of school. These past couple months have gone by so fast, and I have no doubt the next couple of months will fly by just as quickly! While the semester ends today, please know that teachers have until January 10th to submit their final grades. Report cards will be sent out shortly after this date.
Just a reminder that school will resume on Monday, January 6. I hope you and your family have a wonderful 16 days off! We will see everyone in 2025!
Stay safe, stay warm, and have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kirtley
Principal

Information for Getting a CDL to Drive a Bus
The process for getting a CDL is not difficult, and we will help you! Here is what you need to do:
- Take the written portion of the exam. Here is the study guide. You can get a printed copy at any testing site. You will need to take the test for School Bus, Class B with passengers. You do NOT need to test for air brakes.
- After you pass all portions, take the paper the testing site gives you to the license office and get your permit. You also have to take 2 forms of proof-of-residency and a photo ID.
- Come see us--James Luttrell is our federally approved site trainer, and he will provide your training to take the pre-check and driving portions of the test. He will also take you to the testing site when you take the test. Before he does that, we will need you to complete an application and get a fingerprint background check to ensure you are eligible to work for the district.
- After you pass your test, you will take your paperwork to the license office again with 2 forms of proof-of-residency and a photo ID and get your CDL.
- Keep all of your receipts--we reimburse for the permit, CDL, and fingerprints, and we pay for the drug testing and physical.
- As soon as you have a CDL, are approved by the Board, have a DOT physical, and pass a pre-employment drug test, you can sub bus routes and/or drive activity trips.
Are you interested in becoming a substitute teacher?
If you are interested in becoming a substitute teacher and you do not have the required 36 college hours, you can do an online course that will allow you to get a substitute certificate. Here is the link to that course, and here is the link to the DESE web page that gives you more information about what you need to do to get a substitute certification. Our daily rate for subs for the 2024-25 school year will be $100/day!
