Happy Friday Wildcat Country!
Pink Out was a tremendous success! I love these events that bring our school community together for good causes! Our kids and staff were rocking the pink today at school. I now have pink hair (don't care!) and was duct taped to a wall during 6th grade lunch (the winning grade level). Thank you to everyone who donated money, time, and effort. A big shout out to our PTO! We could not do the things we do without your support!
I hope all our families enjoy their weekend! If you need anything, please don't hesitate to email me at petersonj1@fultonschools.org.
I can't wait to see our students again on Monday!

Pink Out!
Thank you to all who helped support our 3rd Annual Wildcat Pink Out! We had a great day hunting ducks, turning Mr. Peterson's hair pink and 6th Grade came out on top with the most participation to TAPE Mr. Peterson to the WALL! To top it all off, we were able to raise over $6300 for Turning Point Breast Cancer Rehabilitation.
Thanks again Wildcat Family for coming through with another successful Pink Out!
A HUGE thank you to the Beck family for being our top contributor for our Wildcat Pink Out. Cal was chosen to be the one to spray Mr. Peterson PINK...beard and all!
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. It serves as a vehicle for schools, communities, and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children. Red Ribbon Week encourages students to make healthy choices and foster positive habits, like building healthy relationships and showing kindness to others. This week also serves as our school's spirit week, where students can show support by participating in themed days and activities that promote a positive, a healthy lifestyle and relationships.
School Pictures
Bowen Photography (BPI) is our provider for school pictures this year. We have heard from several families that you did not receive a proof of your student's photo for this year. We have asked BPI to resend information to families. You should have received a text message and or email to the contact information we have on file in Infinite Campus. Please check your junk mail if you did not receive a message or contact BPI Customer Service - 866-363-6936
Student Perception Survey
Each year, Fulton County Schools collects feedback from our families, students, and staff members about their experiences through the Annual Perception Survey.
The 2024 Annual Student Perception Survey will be administered for all Northwestern MS students on Thursday, November 8 during Homeroom.
Please review the questions in the survey below. If you do not want your student to participate in the Annual Perception Survey, please email Mr. Peterson at petersonj1@fultonschools.org by Friday, November 1st.
Parent Perception Survey
At Fulton County Schools, we truly value the feedback from our parents about their experiences with the district. That is why I encourage all parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey. This survey allows parents the opportunity to tell us what they think about their student’s schools and the district. While we always make it a priority to listen to our parents, this survey affords us another opportunity to receive your thoughts and opinions.
The survey is anonymous and confidential. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. The survey will remain open from Wednesday, October 16 through Friday, November 22.
***Selfish Bribe For Northwestern Parents***
I will give 50 PBIS points to every student who has a parent complete the Annual Parent Perception Survey. Simply complete the survey, and email me the screenshot of the completion page (see below). I will confirm the points were given to your student(s). Parents can do this anytime during the window which stays open until November 22.
Book Fair!
The Book Fair is coming to Northwestern Middle School - November 18th - 22nd. Scholastic Book Clubs has created an eWallet for students to purchase books from the Book Fair without bringing cash or credit cards to school. See details below for more information on setting up your student's eWallet.
Convenient and secure, eWallet lets your child choose books they want to read.
Plus, you can share your eWallet link so friends and family can help your child find even more to read. Unspent funds from a past Fair? To transfer them to this Fair, log in to your Scholastic account and create a new eWallet—then your previous balance will be available to transfer as an eGift Card.
When you fund an eWallet, you can also contribute to Share the Fair, the giving program that benefits kids in your school who need help buying new books.
Visit our school’s Book Fair homepage to get started:
Book Fair Volunteers
In order to make our Book Fair run smoothly, we need volunteers! Check the Sign Up Genius link below if you are interested in coming to help with the Book Fair next month.
New Game Procedures at Elkins Pointe
Elkins Pointe is working to improve our safety practices for games and other after-school events. In doing so, we are requiring all visitors/spectators to register for a free ticket using GoFan. This is the same platform for high school events. Also, we are requiring parents to come with their student as this is not intended to be a drop-off event. Registering can be done at the door, but we want to expedite the process by sharing this communication with your parents in advance. Please see the flyers below for more information.
Things to note:
- All visitors must have a free ticket on GoFan
- Tickets can be done at the door or prior to the event using the link: https://gofan.co/event/1981163?schoolId=GA74078
- Parent/Guardian must attend with their child for the entirety of the event
- We are adhering to GHSA requirements of the clear bag policy.
Communication Procedures
Students and Parents are strongly encouraged to communicate directly with their teachers. Our teachers pledge to be sensitive to your concerns and to partner with you to solve any problem. Attached below is the Communication Procedure for Northwestern Middle School. If a problem or concern should arise, speaking directly with the teacher first is always the preferred first step.
NMS Study Sessions
Study Sessions for this school year are beginning. Each teacher is available to students at least one day a week in the morning or afternoon. A list of all grade level sessions is linked below. Students are encouraged to attend with questions on homework or when extra support is needed after a lesson has been taught in class.
