Hello Dolphin Families,
SMCPS schools and offices are closed Monday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day. All are invited to join us in our Red, White, and Blue Spirit Day in honor of Veterans on Tuesday, November 12.
Thank you to all of our families who attended the Primary Veterans Day concert last Thursday! It was a full house with standing room only. We appreciate your support!
A special thank you to all of our Veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines for the many sacrifices to protect our freedoms. We appreciate you and your family for your dedication and service. Wishing you and our entire LMDES School Community a peaceful Veterans Day!

Duck for President
Mrs. Dines' pre-k students read Duck for President by Doreen Cronin and then voted on whether they wanted Duck or Farmer to be in charge of the farm. Duck won by 1 vote.
Movement Mondays at LMDES
Our Dolphins are on the move! Please know that we are mindful of movement at LMDES. Throughout the days of learning, teachers are making a focused effort on increasing movement for students! We are calling Monday, Movement Monday to be mindful that we start our week off right with purposeful movement throughout the day.
Veterans Day Concert
A huge thank you to Mr. Christian, Mrs. Holm, and our incredible primary and chorus students for an outstanding Veterans Day performance! Your dedication and talent brought so much pride and honor to our school community. Bravo!
Writing Game Show
Ms. Finch's class played a game show. The students had to answer questions about things they've learned about writing in Benchmark. They also found mistakes in writing while proofreading. If they answered a question, they wrote their name on her "paper."
Last Chance - Fall Portrait Orders
Kindergarten Number Corner
Mrs. Koerper is taller than our first stick collection from the first 5 days of November Number Corner....10 sticks. All of the students we measured were shorter than our stick collection.
Action Item: Online Federal Impact Aid Forms
SMCPS Press Release: LEONARDTOWN, MD – St. Mary’s County Public Schools parents are asked to complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey every school year. The school system receives federal grant funds to operate and maintain the schools for federally connected students. The United States Department of Education (USDE) requires the school system to survey each student to receive these federal funds. Completing the survey through the student’s Home Access Center account is important.

Online Federal Impact Aid Forms are now available through the Home Access Center (HAC). Once logged in, directions to access the online Impact Aid form can be found HERE. A video with instructions is available HERE. The form can now be accessed in Spanish by clicking on the Globe in the top right-hand corner once the form has been started. The Federal Impact Aid Survey window will be open until Friday, November 15, 2024.

This week celebrates the contributions of school psychologists and the important role they play in schools and communities. This year's theme, "Spark Discovery," recognizes the work that school psychologists do to help their communities seek out new ideas, effect change, and expand horizons for children and youth.
