Mrs. Ashleigh Foley
Ms. Reid Jarreau
WE LOVE OUR SCHOOL COUNSELORS!
Booker Parents,
This week, we want to give a heartfelt shout-out to our two amazing school counselors:
Mrs. Ashleigh Foley & Ms. Reid Jarreau
We are truly fortunate to have such outstanding counselors who generously share their incredible talents with us at Booker. Our scholars and staff deeply appreciate their hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of both students and staff. Their tireless efforts provide essential support that enhances social-emotional development, fosters peer relationships, and promotes positive interactions among students, staff, parents, and community members.
Our counselors genuinely care, and their roles are vital to our school community. We are immensely grateful for everything they do! So, join me in celebrating Mrs. Foley and Ms. Jarreau this week for National School Counselors Week!
Encourage your scholar to participate in our weekly We Care for Our Counselors dress-out week!
Monday - Wear RED to symbolize unity! These two ladies are true examples of this value. They work together to support all scholars, regardless of their backgrounds, religion, gender, race, or ethnicity! They serve as excellent role models, helping us unite and create a positive campus culture!
Tuesday - Wear CROCS to represent the comfort our counselors provide during crises! They are always there to listen and support us through any challenges. Let’s show how comfortable they make us feel when we need to share our problems!
Wednesday - Wear CRAZY SOCKS to signify how our counselors help calm the craziness! We know that life can be hectic and chaotic at times. Thank goodness for school counselors!
Thursday - Wear CAPS as a reminder that our counselors teach us to cooperate and be considerate of others. Our thinking caps will encourage us to think before we speak or act, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
Friday - Fan Favorites! We proudly acknowledge that we are BIG FANS of our school counselors! Let’s shower them with messages, notes, social media posts, artwork, cards, or any expression of appreciation to show how much we value them!
Our counselors excel at encouraging students to do their best and stay focused, which is why we hold them in such high regard and recognize their importance to our campus culture. With testing taking place, they will be actively engaged in counseling throughout the week, dedicating countless hours to motivate and cheer on our students, while ensuring their social-emotional needs are met. This support helps our scholars feel valued and stress-free. Let’s make this week a fantastic celebration of our school counselors!
Thank you in advance for joining me in appreciating and celebrating our remarkable school counselors!
Sincerely,
Keisha Womack
Principal
TESTING UPDATES
Dear Parents,
We are writing to inform you about the upcoming STAAR Interim Assessments which your child will be taking this week. This is a practice test designed to help monitor your child's progress on the state standards (TEKS) and predict their performance on the main STAAR test later in the year.
Key points about the STAAR Interim:
- Purpose: To identify areas where your child is demonstrating mastery and areas where they may need additional support.
- Format: Similar to the regular STAAR test, covering the same subject areas.

New Security Measures at Booker Elementary School
RING THE DOORBELL!
School security has become a top priority for educational institutions in today’s world. With an increasing number of potential threats, schools must implement stricter protocols to ensure the safety of students, staff, and parents. Identification of all individuals entering the premises is now an essential process, and Booker Elementary School is taking enhanced precautions to create a secure environment for everyone.
Beginning at 7:35 AM, a new entry and student checkout procedure will be implemented at Booker. Parents or guardians will be required to stand in front of an exterior camera and present valid identification, such as a driver’s license, before they are granted access to the building. This camera is positioned outside, near the main entrance, and no one will be permitted inside until their identity has been verified by the front office staff. To further enhance security, adults are asked to close the door immediately upon entering and ensure no one follows them in.
Spring ISD recognizes the importance of this and is committed to implementing robust safety measures to protect its schools, making them a thriving space for education both now and in the future. These updated security protocols aim to provide peace of mind for students, parents, and staff, allowing everyone to concentrate on education without fear or unnecessary distractions. The efforts of the staff to uphold a safe and welcoming environment have been commendable, ensuring Booker remains a positive and secure place for learning every day.
Promptness is also a key aspect of maintaining a safe and productive school environment. Students are encouraged to arrive on time to avoid delays or disruptions in the morning routine. Starting at 7:35 AM, the school day officially begins, and security measures will be fully operational. Tardiness not only impacts learning but can also interfere with the seamless implementation of these protocols.
Let’s work together to ensure everyone's safety and that every student is present, on time, and ready to learn each day!

Our student ID cards are safe and secure. We use PVC cards with a passive RFID chip containing only a unique identification (UID) number. The UID in the chip is read by our card reader, and our system uses it to reference student information. The latest cloud technology, encryption, and security protocols ensure your child’s information is secure.

QUICK LINKS
Looking for ways to help! We would love to have you!
We are looking for volunteers and parents who are interested in supporting our scholars and staff this year. There are many ways to get involved. You can get involved behind the scenes, holding a PTO Board Office, volunteering at campus events, or so many other ways. Please complete both forms below:
BOOKER VOLUNTEER FORM 24-25 Spring ISD Volunteer Form.
It is important to do both forms. One is tailored just for us and specifies what you'd like to do as a volunteer and the other application is a district mandate for all Volunteers in Schools.
Booker Volunteer Interest Form
Spring ISD VIP Volunteer application:
We must get you approved by the district before serving on campus as a volunteer. Booker's volunteer interest form is just a way that we can try to track our interested parents and community members on the district's spreadsheet and get them in faster! However, it is not the actual volunteer request form! So, please visit the VIP Website and complete the application! Please call the front office and let the front office know that you have been approve as a VIP for our district! This system will allow us to track your status and get you registered for next year. We would like to start developing our Parent Engagement Team interest to hopefully roll out BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS FOR BOOKER!
