PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Trojan Families,
I hope this message finds you well. As I reflect on the past few weeks, I am filled with joy for the hard work and dedication that I see from our students and staff everyday. Visiting classrooms has been a wonderful reminder of the incredible learning and engagement happening throughout our school.
I'm thrilled to see the level of involvement in all aspects of school life and it's certainly what makes Trojan Nation so special. It's a blessing to see so many students so actively engaged in band, theater, dance, clubs, and athletics. Our students are giving their best at school, and many immediately head to jobs, practice, or rehearsals where they pour even more energy into their commitments. Balancing all of these responsibilities is challenging, and helping our students manage the stresses of high school is an ongoing conversation we must have. In the busy months ahead, please continue to check in with your student(s) about how they're managing the demands of school, extracurricular activities, and their own well-being.
Thank you for making our school a place where every student can thrive.
In partnership,
Michael Abraham
Principal
STUDENT CANVAS & MY HOMEWORK
Students should continually check their canvas messages for important information as teachers, club advisors, and administrators use this tool to communicate with our students on a daily basis. Teachers also utilize My Homework to invite students to WIN (what I need) time.
ATTENDANCE RECOVERY
In Rock Hill Schools, a student may miss 3 days for quarter classes and make up days 4-5. For semester courses, students may miss up to 6 days of a yearlong course without earning a failure due to absences (FA) or needing to recover seat time. If a student misses more than 6 days of a semester course, he/she may only recover seat time for the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th absence. Please be sure to log into parent portal to review attendance. Attendance notes may be emailed to nwabsencedocumentation@rhmail.org within three days of an absence.
Students have been notified via their canvas messages and have also been provided a sign up link for make up school. Make up school takes place in the library. For questions or concerns, please contact Ms. Gravley at sgravley@rhmail.org or (803) 981-1928.
STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE
Students should mark their calendars to begin studying and preparing for final exams and end-of-course (EOC) exams as they are right around the corner.
2025 MLK YOUTH ESSAY CONTEST
COLLEGE VISITS
Juniors and Seniors are allowed two (2) days per year to visit colleges. These days do NOT roll over.
1) Before you go, check with the college you would like to visit to make sure the day/time you want to visit is available...this information can be found on the college's website.
2) Most colleges require you to register for a visit...this can usually be done on the colleges website
3) Have the college's admissions office write on their school letterhead that you were there for a college visit on that day
4) Turn this form into the NHS Attendance Office with in three (3) days of your visit so the day will not count as an unexcused absence
**You do not need anything from Northwestern prior to your visit**
