Principal's Corner
Hello Godwin Heights Middle School Families,
As we approach the final stretch of our semester, I want to take a moment to recognize the perseverance our students have demonstrated this week. Many of them have worked hard to complete missing assignments and stay on track academically. Their hard work and commitment to success do not go unnoticed—thank you for encouraging and supporting them at home.
Looking ahead, next week is all about preparing for and succeeding in final semester exams. Monday and Tuesday will be dedicated to review and test preparation in all classes. Exams will begin on Wednesday, marking an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and growth this semester. Please help your student prepare by encouraging them to:
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Review their study guides and materials.
- Approach exams with confidence, knowing they’ve put in the effort to succeed.
In addition to all the academic focus, we’ve had some wonderful moments of celebration this week! Friday’s skating party was a fantastic event filled with fun and community spirit. We also completed MAP testing this week, and I’m proud of the focus and effort our students displayed during this important assessment.
Let’s continue working together to finish the semester strong! As always, thank you for your partnership in supporting our students’ growth and achievement.

Art Room Highlights
The Godwin Heights Middle School art classes have been hard at work creating impressive projects in celebration of Native American Heritage. Here’s what each grade has been working on:
- 6th Grade: Students explored the style and influences of Norval Morrisseau, a renowned Indigenous artist.
- 7th Grade: They designed watercolor dream catchers inspired by their assigned spirit animals.
- 8th Grade: Students created Northwest Coast-inspired art featuring bold designs and intricate patterns connected to their spirit animals.
- ASD Students: Created dreamcathers using watercolors, markers, beads and cutout feathers, decorated with their own creative touches.
Using a variety of mediums—paint, pastels, ink, salt, watercolors, and even bleach—these projects showcase creative interpretations of Native American traditions.
