CELL PHONE USAGE
I'm sure you have seen articles from all over the country talking about school cell phone bans. Plymouth High School created a committee to look at other district policies, positive and negative usage, and how it compares to during the school day use at PHS. We came to the conclusion, as of right now we know there is a problem with cell phone usage, yet we want to try and curb it before going to the extreme of no cell phones at all.
For now, each teacher has a two-sided card that is Red/Green. When the Card is on Red, students are not allowed to use their phone. When it is on green, which indicates approval by the teacher, they are able to use it.
For the majority of classes, the card stays RED and students should NOT be on their phones. In the event they are using it inappropriately, the following takes place:
Student will turn in their phone to the teacher for the remainder of the class period.
Teacher will turn their phone into the office for the remainder of the school day.
Teacher will turn their phone into the office and the parent/guardian will have to schedule a time to pick it up.
Please help us in our endeavor to allow students to learn how to properly access their phone while being in a learning environment by talking to them about the above expectations.
STATE REPORT CARD
As part of the state accountability system, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) produces report cards for every publicly funded school and district in Wisconsin. These report cards include data on multiple indicators for multiple years across four Priority Areas:
- Achievement
- Growth
- Target Group Outcomes
- On-track for Graduation
This report makes headlines every year in the paper, but did you know that Plymouth High School works on another Report Card? Please take a minute to look at how we also share the COMPREHENSIVE data surrounding our students on our Website.
PARKING / PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF ZONES
- School starts everyday at 7:35 AM and ends at 2:40 PM.
- Traffic with young, high school drivers sometimes leads to congestion, please give yourself and your students ample time to make it to PHS on time.
- Here is a map, with blue arrows, showing where parents can pick-up and drop-off students.
- Please pull in all the way around, like the blue arrows on the above map show.
- We have the curb space so please pull ahead and do not leave large gaps in the line.
PARENT & TEACHER CONFERENCES
Parent & Teacher Conferences are just around the corner. Please save the dates:
- November 7 ~ 3:00-7:00 PM
- November 14 ~ 3:00-7:00 PM
More info will be shared as we get closer.
In the interim, please continue to check Skyward for daily updates on your child's academic performance.
