Team Dublin Weekly Update
Week of March 18, 2024
Mr. Kirschenbaum, ELA
Mr. O'Malley, Math 6 and 7
Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! :)
Ms. Wesselhoft, Geography
This week, students will be considering the impact of our rapid population growth by interpreting political cartoons. They will take a formative assessment to give feedback on that critical thinking skill. We will then be reviewing all our work and getting ready to take their Unit 5 Summative assessment.
Ms. Osman, Science
This week, students will transition into a new unit focusing on weather patterns and water. On Tuesday, 3/19 they'll take their ocean, atmosphere, and climate end-of-unit formative assessment. This assessment will allow them to showcase their comprehension of the material covered in the previous unit. To ensure they're fully prepared, Monday will be dedicated to reviewing key concepts. With the start of our new unit, students will complete a pre-unit assessment on weather patterns in class on Thursday 3/21. As part of our exploration into weather patterns and water, students will receive an introduction to the water cycle. This foundational process plays a crucial role in shaping our planet's climate and weather phenomena. Also, a reminder that weekly roots quizzes will resume during Term 4. If you're missing any assignments, please use this long weekend as an opportunity to complete them.
This week's assignments:
End of Unit Formative - due Tues. 3/19
Weather Patterns Pre – Unit Assessment (In Class) due Thur. 3/21
Ms. Patsalos, Intermediate ESOL
This week students won the contest between period 5 and 6 ESL classes and for their prize spent the last 10 minutes of class on Monday outside. They put in a lot of time on System 44 to win and hopefully, that effort will carry over into this week. If you have a computer at home, please encourage your student to do their System 44 lessons.
Tardy Hall reminder
All Deal students are expected to be in class and ready to learn promptly at 8:45 AM daily. To help build strong, healthy habits and ensure that students do not miss instructional time, the 6th grade team is assigning tardy hall to students who arrive to school after 9 AM or who have established a pattern of late arrivals that are resulting in lost learning time. Students who are assigned tardy hall will stay afterschool with Ms. Watson, 6th grade dean, until 4:15 PM.
