NBES Update

Dear NBES Families, Staff, and Students,

I am excited to announce that we have selected a new principal for North Brookfield Elementary School. Please join me in welcoming Art Murphy to our community.

Mr. Murphy brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education. With a robust background in public school administration, he has developed a deep appreciation for the diverse cultures and age groups within our community. His dedication to fostering strong relationships with students and families is evident in his outgoing and caring nature, which has enabled him to understand and meet the individual needs of each student effectively.

As an alum of Cohort 8 of the Lynch Leadership Academy at Boston College, Mr. Murphy has gained valuable insights into leadership and equity. Their vision has guided him to pursue professional development in Restorative Justice, emphasizing relationship-building and conflict resolution over punishment. This approach aligns perfectly with our district's commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Mr. Murphy has served as the principal of Gardner Middle School from July 2017 to July 2023 and most recently as a building principal in Monson. During his tenure, he helped transform the school into a model for MTSS/PBIS implementation, working closely with the May Institute to adopt a proactive, tiered system of support. He has led numerous community outreach programs and has ensured that every student had a safe and nurturing place to pursue their passions.

We are confident that Mr. Murphy will bring the same level of enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and leadership to North Brookfield Elementary School. His proven ability to motivate and manage students effectively will undoubtedly benefit our entire school community.
