WFBMS FAMILY NEWS
October 21, 2024
Greetings Middle School Families,
Last week, I was able to experience our seventh grade camp for the first time, having heard about it for years. I have to say, I was blown away by the experience our staff and families provide for our learners. It is such a unique experience that works to foster a sense of community and identify in our seventh grade that is something completely unique. While the entire experience is enriching, the Courage Retreat, presented by Youth Frontiers, provides our learners with a chance to explore their fears, understanding that everyone has them, commit to act with courage and make our school a better place, as well as break down some of the social barriers that exist among members of the grade. This formative experience directly aligns with our instruction on social emotional learning and is something I hope to capitalize on throughout the year to help them develop into positive leaders in our community at school and in Whitefish Bay in general.
I would also like to take a moment to thank all the parents/guardians that helped support the camp experience by volunteering their time. It was humbling to see the outpouring of support from parents/guardians. Without all of you, the camp experience would not be possible. Speaking for all seventh grade staff, we truly appreciate the time and effort you provided to make this camp a memorable experience for our seventh graders once again.
Best,
Geoff Pontus
