Lily Chu, MD Internal/Geriatric Medicine and Public Health
Lily Chu has a background in internal/ geriatric medicine and public health. She graduated from the University of Washington with a BS (molecular and cellular biology) and MD, trained in internal medicine at the University of Rochester (NY) and geriatric medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles, and obtained an MS in health services research also while at UCLA. She has experience working in academic, small private, Veterans Administration, and large integrated multi-specialty healthcare systems.
In 2006, her career took a detour when she became sick with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), a disabling illness affecting at least 1 million Americans with no effective treatment. Since then, Chu has focused her efforts on solving CFS. Currently, she serves on the Board of the International Association for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ Myalgic (IACFS/ME) and Stanford University's ME/CFS Initiative and is a member of the Institute of Medicine's Committee on Diagnostic Criteria for ME/CFS. She has also served on federal panels and subcommittees related to formulating a national response to ME/CFS.
