What a crazy weather year already. We went from a snow day last week to almost 80 degrees today! Please check out our school Facebook page where we post updated pictures of things happening in school. This week was fantastic with a visit from new School Board Representative Mrs. Tredinnick, an Arts Showcase including a Peter Pan play, our elementary Readers as Leaders being recognized at the BDHS high school basketball game, our middle schooler dressing up as the mascot to welcome kids in on Fridays, and our Tiger Task Force helping out in school (thank you Mr. Higgins!). Thank you for all your support for our school. We are better together!

Recently, our staff decided on a list of Core Values as a school to help remind us on what we believe and how to act together so we can have the best school possible. First, our leadership team, of almost 20 staff members, came together to brainstorm a list and vote that down to a top 12 core values. We brought those 12 core values to the staff, and in a staff meeting, then all voted on the top 5 core values. The staff decided on the following core values that represents our school: Enthusiasm, Kindness, Respect, Support, and Teamwork. Look for more to come out about these core values and how we will better understand what they mean to us as a school community.

Save the date for a fun night focused just on our 8th graders coming up February 16th from 6:00-10:00 pm. This will include food, games, movies, and a lot of fun! Students will need to have permission forms completed which will be sent home with all 8th graders early next week. Thank you to our TNS parents for organizing and running this event!

The TNS National Junior Society is holding a Carnation Sale for all grade levels. This year, each flower will be $2. Pre-orders will be February 1st through 8th. There will be no flowers sold after Feb. 8th. Carnations must be paid for at time of order. Accepted forms of payment are cash or check. Check made out to The Nokesville School. Our 4th grade team set up a spirit night at Red Robin on Monday, February 5 to help raise funds towards their big annual Jamestown field trip. The fundraiser goes all day 11:00 am - 10:00 pm and we will get 20% back on all online or in person orders as long as they show the flyer. All proceeds will go towards reducing the costs of the field trip for all students.

Parents Night Out - One month away. Space is limited! And they give 60% back to TNS!

The TNS Multicultural Committee is hosting a virtual event, and we invite you to share in the fun! Please see the attached flier and use the QR code to upload a short video talking about you and your family's favorite holiday and/or family/cultural traditions. We can't wait to see your amazing faces and learn all about the uniqueness of our school community.

Coach Choi is sharing a link to their team store to purchase basketball-specific spirit wear. I would love for this to be added to our weekly newsletter for the rest of the month. The deadline to order is January 31st. Many of the items are not gender specific, so would be great for other basketball programs, like boys basketball and the Nokesville Basketball League.
