SWEETHEART DANCE
Mother Nature pushed the dance back a week but we had so much fun when it did happen! From the moment you arrived and walked the red carpet into the gym to posing for pictures with friends, the kids had a blast! Festive balloons decorated the gym and many faces showed surprise at the transformation it underwent! Special thanks to all of our staff that worked so hard to make this a beautiful night for our families!
THIRD QUARTER ELECTIVE SHOWCASE
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 24TH
BLACK HISTORY MONTH PRESENTATIONS ON FEB. 28TH
During Black History Month, our scholars selected someone that has made significant contributions to our society. They researched their life, career, significant facts, etc. They designed a poster board high- lighting what they learned. K-2 did it as a class and grades 3-6 did individual projects. Presentations took place at the end of the school day on Friday, February 28th. We learned a lot during Black History Month in February.
DOOR DECORATING CONTEST
Our staff also selected someone of significance and decorated their doors with information about that person or group. It has been fun to walk around the school to see their creative displays and learn more about Black History!

FEATURED ART OF THE MONTH
"Malcolm X"
It was a collaborative effort among 3 students, Ashlynn, Kailyn and Adalina, to produce this portrait of Malcolm X that was hung on their door as part of the classroom's decorations for Black History Month! They did such a fantastic job with their black and white rendering!
The students are in Mrs. Mims' 6th grade class.

A NOTE ABOUT OTC MEDICATIONS
State legislation (HB 70) states that over-the-counter (OTC) drugs will not be permitted to be distributed without the written permission of a parent or guardian. The over-the-counter drug must be provided by the parent or guardian in the original container. Students are not permitted to have over-the-counter drugs on their person, in their possessions, or kept in a desk or locker. (The school has separate policies for Asthma inhalers, Epi pens and for diabetic students.) Please call the office with any questions you may have about the school’s medication policies.
Did you know that cough drops have drug facts on their packaging so therefore they would also be included in this policy?

This program aims to provide emergency food assistance to children and families directly at Madison Avenue School of Arts. The School Pantry Program offers a more empowering choice model, ensuring families receive the support they need without having to leave the school environment. Our goal remains steadfast: to alleviate hunger and support the well-being of children across Northwest Ohio.
If you are interested in shopping at our Newly Opened Harvest Market, please contact the school for an appointment at 419-259-4000. Remember a visit to the Harvest Market is completely confidential and located within an area that is private in the school building.

A FINAL NOTE FROM OUR BOARD PRESIDENT
Dear Parents and Guardians,
With March comes thoughts of St. Patrick’s Day, four leaf clovers, and the luck of the Irish.
Some believe "that luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity."
This is a perfect time of year to remind our students that success in school and life depends on how hard they work to achieve.
March into spring with joy!
Darlene M. Burke, Board President
