Wow I can not believe it is already Thanksgiving break! I am beyond grateful for such a FABULOUS first grade class, and some pretty awesome parent too. :) Your involvement amazes me, and I can not thank you enough for being part of your child's school life. It really makes such a big difference.

Also, thank you to families who bought books for our classroom from the book fair. The book fair is such a great time for students to dive into books and want to read! And the students love seeing the new books added to our classroom library.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday surrounded by family. Get some rest and eat lots of yummy food! Can't wait to see everyone back at school in a week!

On Wednesday, December 13th, each elementary class will take a fun, wintry photo. We will pose each class one at a time so we can develop the photos in time to put them in individual frames to be decorated during our Winter Celebration Day on December 20th. We want to really convey that we’re having a frosty good time, so please send your child to school with a big winter coat, scarf, mittens, hat, etc regardless of the weather outside. Thanks so much for your help and we promise the end result will be one VERY adorable photo!

Spelling Words: by, try, sunny, handy, fly, cry, lucky, silly, puppy, my, always, become, day, everything, nothing, stays, things

Reading: We will learn about the sound of /y/ in words, read non-fiction stories about the past and present, and continue to use a Venn Diagram to compare stories

Writing: We will write about what we did on Thanksgiving break, learn about synonyms and antonyms, and identify action verbs

Science/Social Studies: We will start our new unit on Past/Present, Cultures and Traditions! We will investigate the past through a fossil experiment, and construct personal timelines of events in the past.

Home visits are special programs offered by FSAPS to help build the parent, student, and teacher relationship. This is an opportunity for your child's teachers to visit and get a closer look at their life at home. This helps a teacher to know more about each of his/her students, and build a strong relationship between school and family. These are optional, but if you would be interested in planning a home visit for your child, please see the information below.

How to schedule a home visit:

Please send an e-mail to our home visit coordinator, Mrs. Unal, at junal@fultonscienceacademy.org. In that e-mail, please provide three available dates for your child's home visit. We will get back to you to confirm a date. At least two teachers will be together for home visits.; specific names/subjects will be dependent upon teacher availability.
