Troop 483 Weekly Update
This Week
Scoutmaster Update
Hi Scouts!
I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new Scouts from Pack 490 and Pack 491! This is an exciting yet challenging time for you all. You have achieved your Arrow of Light, which is the highest rank in Cub Scouts. I encourage you to wear your Arrow of Light with pride! Even as an adult, I treasure my time in Cub Scouts and proudly wear the knot representing the Arrow of Light. This award holds a place of honor on my uniform, right next to my Eagle Scout knot.
With your move to the Troop, it’s completely normal to feel nervous or apprehensive, as this is a new group of Scouts and the experience at the Troop level may be different from what you’re used to. Remember, this is YOUR journey, and you will have the chance to embark on new and exciting adventures. At this stage, we encourage you to become more independent and collaborate within your Patrol. However, don't worry—we are all here to support you along the way.
I can't wait to see you all tonight and welcome you into the Troop 483 family!
See you all tonight!
Mr. Wellington

RELIGIOUS EMBLEM AWARD INFORMATION
Dear Scouts and parents,
The twelfth point of our Scout law is “a Scout is reverent”. Also, in our Scout oath we proclaim we will do our “duty to God…”.
Did you know that a Scout can earn special awards for studying their own religion. This is available for nearly all religions and at all levels of Scouting. For Boy Scouts it’s typically one level in junior high and one level in high school. Some faiths also have awards for adults.
I would like to encourage all parents and Scouts to consider working towards these special awards. Many of them are starting up at this time of the year because it tends to coincide with the start of school. If I can help you in anyway, finding a counselor for your faith or if you need more information, please reach out to me at JohnP641@aol.com and I will do my best to guide you.
Below I have included a link to scouting.org which tells you about all of the different religious emblem awards you can earn for all the faiths.

Yours in God, and in Scouting,
John Pooley

VIRTUS TRAINING - FIRST MONDAY OF EACH MONTH AT ST. DOROTHY'S
Attention all adults: All adult volunteers over the age of 18 who volunteer in ministries in the Church, School or Religious Education are required to become certified in VIRTUS and to be fingerprinted through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. If you are a registered adult with Troop 483 you need to complete VIRTUS training which is similar to our YPT training. This is required because we are chartered by St. Dorothy’s. Click the link below to sign up if you need to be certified or recertified. The training is done on the first Monday of each month at St. Dorothy’s School at 7 PM.
