It's been an incredible start to the year! Students have jumped right in and remember all of our school rules. They're awesome!

Our arrival and dismissal processes seem to be going quite smoothly. Yeah! We have a few minutes to shave off of our morning back carline. Thank you for helping in the following ways:

1. Make use of the parking lot aisles to exit towards Hart Rd. quickly. These lanes are indicated with "EXIT" signs. This will keep our carline moving even when Hart Rd. becomes backed up for a moment.

2. Teach your child(ren) to be ready to exit the car when the car door is opened.

3. If your child is able, they can open their own car door and follow the sidewalk rather than waiting for someone to open it.

Dismissal is going smoothly. Please continue to help in the following ways:

1. Make sure your child knows his/her car number. This is the number one hold up in carline when we are searching for a child who didn't know/hear the number displayed and called.

2. Pull all the way forward, even if you see your child waiting at another spot. We will call them to the correct place when we see you pull up.

Tomorrow, we will host our very first Puster Pride with our students. This students only assembly will allow us to celebrate the first few days of school together and have some fun doing it!

It is time to update forms in PowerSchool! Please take a moment to update all forms and permissions. Directions for updating can be found here.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering. Your willingness to serve in this capacity is very much appreciated.

You may click here to access the background check application. Please provide as much identifying information as possible. An example of this would be to include your middle name. If all identifying information is not included, it is possible your background application may be denied. A new application must be submitted every year. All active volunteers will expire yearly on July 31st.

We will begin to utilize School Dismissal Manager beginning on Monday, 8/14 for all dismissal defaults and exceptions. You should have received an email from SDM to the primary email account in PowerSchool. Please enter your default dismissal for each day of the week. If you need to make a change on any given day, that will be an exception. Our staff will ONLY follow the daily SDM reports for all student dismissals. Back to School Birthdays are sometimes hard. This year, we are offering classroom birthday treats at the elementary schools for K-4th grade students. You can choose the day you wish to celebrate your birthday and celebrate coming back to school. The birthday treat box order form and all of the details are available on our Student Nutrition website. All of our treats meet Smart Snack guidelines and the food allergen information is available online. Parents are able to submit an order using the online form. We ask for the order form to be submitted at least 7 days before the celebration day. However, if your student's birthday is the first week, place the order and give me a call. We will do our best to make it happen. Student Nutrition will arrange pick up of the treat boxes with the student’s teacher and the celebration will begin. Please reach out to the Student Nutrition office or your campus cafeteria manager with any questions. Birthdays are memorable and this is such a fun way to celebrate!

Remember, it is never too early to order! You can even order now for those end-of-the-year birthdays now to ensure your student’s favorite treat is available! Hurry and get your orders in!!! It's time to Celebrate!!!!

Welcome Back Sweet Families!

I hope everyone had a fun, safe & restful summer. I am thrilled to be returning as Puster’s School Counselor. Beginning of the school year is a great opportunity to click the refresh button and start off the new year with a positive mindset.

Here are some tips to help your child (& you) get back in the swing of a new school year:

1. Re-introduce your child to the regular routine. Consistency is key.

2. Check in - talk about how your child is feeling about the school year. Empathize with your child’s fear & anxieties, and address them.

3. Help your child set realistic goals for the year. This can help boost motivation & confidence.

4. Make sure your child views school as fun.

5. Involve your child in the preparatory activities.

6. Encourage bonding with school friends (new & old).

7. Set screen time limits. Discover a space for offline habits to develop.

8. Create a visual schedule if your child struggles with coming to school. The “unknown” can be scary - take the “unknown” out of the day.

9. Set up a study space in your home that is free from distraction and a consistent place for work to be done.

10. Practice Gratitude. By exercising that “gratitude muscle” daily, kids can harness positive thinking to improve their attitude about the year ahead.

Each month, I will conduct Guidance Lessons with each class (K-4th) to increase positive social skills, behaviors and choices. These lessons will be centered around our conflict management program: Kelso’s Choices and our district character traits. I will start Guidance Lessons on August 28th. Looking forward to a beautiful year!

Library Corner: STEM, stories and more with Mrs. Stewart

Hello Puster Elementary community,

I truly believe that the library can make a difference in students' lives.Books help students explore, inspire interests, and launch investigations. Stories can encourage them to observe, wonder, predict, invent, and evaluate the world around them. I look forward to an amazing year.

Summer reading challenge: We had over 136 students participate in our summer reading challenge.

Each student that read 50 books or 500 minutes will have their name shown on the morning announcements and receive a DIY blank puzzle to decorate.

The grade level with the most amount of participation of summer reading gets a popsicle party Friday 8.11

School: since we beat our goal of having over 100 students participate, then yes, you guessed it, since reading is as sweet as pie, students that participated will be entered for a chance to pie me in the face at Puster Pride 8.11.

We are starting the year off by reviewing library procedures and expectations, and how to take care of our books. We are reviewing expectations for Makerspace where we practice our future ready skills of creativity, Critical thinking, collaboration & communication with engineering, creation station, lego wall, challenges and more.

Morning Announcements: 4th graders wanted to be on the PES morning announcements broadcast!

We will meet on Friday mornings at 7:30 to record our video segments for the next week

We will have anchors introducing our week, reciting pledges, our lunch menu, birthdays and more.

Good Afternoon Puster Families,

This is your School Marshal Steven Emory.

Today I would like to inform you of the rules and procedures of our visitation process.

At the front door, you will be required to show your ID to the Camera. Please hold the ID away from the camera so that it can be viewed properly.

After showing your ID, then you will be let through the first set of doors. Please do not let anyone in behind you. Once you are in the first set of doors, the front office staff will let you into the office. You will need to have your ID out and ready.

If you are visiting for lunch or an event, you will be given a lanyard and ID badge. The ID badge is to be worn on your upper shoulder area. This ID badge is not to be placed in your pocket or worn anywhere else on your body.

For big events, like Puster Pride, you will be given the opportunity to pre-sign in with a fast pass. You will still be required to have your ID out and ready, but you will not be given a lanyard or ID badge. During this time, you will have limited access to the building. You will only be allowed into the event area. If you want to get a student out of class, you will have to sign them out in the office. If you are taking your student home after the event you will have to sign them out as well. You can not leave without signing your student out.

At no time will a visitor let another visitor into the building. You must find the nearest Puster Staff Member to let the visitor into the building.

4th Grade Announcement! Puster Pride Choir is having open enrollment right now! Any and all interested 4th grade students may join our official Puster Choir.

No auditions required! Registration ends August 31 so be sure to act fast!

3rd and 4th Graders, it's time to start thinking of and preparing for Puster’s Talent Show! This year we are excited to showcase our 3rd and 4th grade students' talents on Friday, September 15th! Talent Show registration will be completed online no later than Friday, September 1st.

Registration must be completed by Friday, September 1st. 3rd-4th grade acts must audition and demonstrate a performance that has been well rehearsed. The audition process is new this year. *Your audition will not be a live, in-person audition. A video recording of your child's Talent Show Act will be sufficient. These submissions must be received via email OR Google drive by September 5th at 5:00 pm. Again, there will be no in-person audition this year. Please be sure your child's audition video recording is clear, audible, and considered "polished" and performance-ready. Acts not meeting this criteria will not be allowed to perform on stage September 15th.

Also new in 2023, your child may audition as a Master of Ceremonies. Our M.C.’s will also help with any backstage transitions. Those auditions will take place after school on Wednesday, September 6. Serious candidates only. All audition information can be found HERE .

Lovejoy Athletics would like to offer up the opportunity for premium parking for all Varsity home football games for the 2023 season.
