Teaching Tip of the Day from The Conductor's Companion
Many conductors focus their comments regarding musicality and interpretation in rehearsals by simply giving directions: play louder, play softer, play shorter, slow down here, etc. Instead of constantly giving directions, ask students why they should play louder or softer or why would the composer indicate a rallentando? The questions can be endless.
Quote of the Day
This advice is great for band directors as well. What sound for your band do you have in your head?
