Eagles Friday Update!
Lanesville Elementary School September 6, 2024
Message from Dr. Holder
Dear Eagle Community,
Happy Heritage Week! What a great time to come together as a community to celebrate together. Our 3rd and 4th grade students will be attending a Heritage sponsored field trip on Thursday, September 12th. We will also have a Touch-a-Truck and Tractor event for 1st grade. Our 1st and 2nd grade students will also have a guest speaker come to share a book about restoring a tractor. Students will get a chance to go outside and see the restoration. We are grateful to Jerry Reinhardt for organizing these events for our students.
In addition to Heritage, we will also have parent teacher conferences on Monday. September 16th. Please sign up for a conference through Parent Square. The conference sign up form will be sent on Monday- please be on the look out.
Soaring when we work together!
Dr. Holder

August Student of the Month
Remembering 9/11
As the nation commemorates the anniversary of September 11, 2011, Lanesville Elementary students and staff will pause to remember this day of great importance in our nation's history. On this day, 23 years ago, many lives were affected by tragic events, and we honor the memory of those who were lost.
At 8:00 AM, Lanesville Elementary will participate in the observance of 9/11 through our morning announcements and Kid's Radio. One of our very own Eagles will share an important message with our school community and then invite our students and staff to share a Moment of Remembrance.
Here at LES, we strive to teach our students the importance of kindness, courage, and helping others. As we remember 9/11, let’s continue to encourage our students to show compassion, support one another, and be the best Eagles they can be.
Thank you for helping us create a caring and supportive community. If you would like additional information and/or ways to discuss this historic event with your children, visit the National Geographic link below:

BE in the Know with Harmony
If you would like daily or weekly updates on school attendance, lunch accounts, grades and school discipline then sign up through Harmony. Log in to Harmony and select the menu tab, scroll down to notifications profile, set your profile settings as desired, then save your updates.
Our grading practice allows students to reassess if they get below a 70% on an assessment. The teachers will reteach and offer a retest. The grade can be replaced up to a max score of 80%. If a student did not put forth effort, refused or rushed then they can be given an option to redo the assessment without reteaching occurring. We also enter a 50% as the lowest grade to make sure that scores are not deflated from one grade.
WIN! What I NEED
Our beginning of the year data is in for K-6th grade. Teachers have looked at this data to create flexible groups to meet the needs of all of our students. The WIN block is designed to provide intervention, reteach and enrichment opportunities based on student data. Each grade level team is working together to provide a continuum of services to support students. Your child may be visiting another classroom, working with an interventionist, teacher or assistant at this time. These groups are flexible and will change every two to three weeks based on new student data. We think that WIN (What I need) is a huge WIN!! for our Eagles. Please talk with your child's teacher at conferences if you have any questions.
Counseling Corner
Students will have a guidance lesson every other week. Lessons will be provided by Mrs. Steele (K-4) and Mrs. Kaelin (5th). Please ask your students about what they are learning and about the Eagle Pledge. Sept 7 & 9 Second Step Bullying Prevention (Lesson 2/3)
