Miss Oregon Visits Newby!
Today, Miss Oregon visited two classes at Newby Elementary to talk about her signature issue, diabetes. Diagnosed at a young age, she advocates for diabetes awareness and challenges young people to lead fulfilling lives despite living with the disease.
If you think Miss Oregon looks familiar, you would be right! She is Abigail Hoppe, who taught third grade at Grandhaven for three years and did her student teaching here, too. She will compete in the Miss America pageant this coming January and hopes to return to teaching after her official duties are over.

MHS Construction Students Build Shed
Mac High’s “Math in Construction” class has been putting their learning into action by helping construct a small structure on Baker Field.
Starting with a kit from Team Oregon Build, the students from the class learned about how to pour concrete for a pad and walkway that will lengthen the life of the 8x12 foot shed.
Expanding on the kit design, the students, along with other students in Construction classes, will change the slope of the roof to add a roll-up door and an overhang over the window. The shed will be used to store soccer items.
Night of the Notables
Patton sixth graders showcased their research presentations about a historical figure in an evening event at the school last night.
Students have been working for weeks on exploring the life of someone who has made a difference in the world. The presentations include a timeline and biography and some costumed presenters!

Memorial Visits the School Board
This week, six Memorial students attended Monday’s School Board meeting to talk about math. They also played a few rounds of the game Math Sides to show one of the ways they work on math fact fluency.
Thank you, Bulldogs!
