Dear Providencia Families,
I hope you and your family are safe and well. Our hearts go out to those who have been directly affected by the fires, and we are here to support you in any way we can. Please reach out to us if you and your family need assistance.
One of our staff members, our Peaceful Playground Coach Luke has been greatly impacted by the fires. Please donate and/or pass his GoFundMe link along.
As we reopen our doors tomorrow, Monday, January 13 we want to assure you that we have taken all necessary precautions to ensure a safe and healthy environment for our students. Our facilities and grounds departments have assessed the campus and removed all fallen trees and large debris. Our day custodian, Manny Avila and substitute night custodian, Elizabeth Rosales worked tirelessly last week to prepare our campus by clearing all the leaf and twig debris, garbage and lost-and-found items all over campus due to last week's high winds.
We will also implement additional safety protocols to provide a peace of mind for everyone. We are already equipped with efficient air filtration as part of our HVAC system that is deemed appropriate for the classroom setting. The district has delivered KN95 masks available to students and N95 masks for staff upon request. Lastly we will be closely monitoring air quality to protect the health of our students by following the district board policy on air quality protocols where we may limit outdoor activities and/or implement indoor recess as needed.
To support our community, the Burbank Family Service Agency is offering a range of services, including free mental health support through a dedicated telehealth line. This service is available in English, Spanish, and Armenian, and provides compassionate assistance to those in need. You can reach the support line at 818-561-8552, available from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
Our committed teachers and staff are looking forward to resuming our regular schedule and continue to provide a nurturing and enriching educational experience for your children. With your support, we will work hard to ensure a smooth and positive return. Despite the devastation that has impacted LA county, I find great inspiration from our firefighters, first responders and everyday heroes. We are stronger together and will emerge more resilient than ever.
Respectfully,
Principal Celeste
Respetuosamente,
Directora Celeste

i-Ready Diagnostic
This month students in grades K-5th are taking the Ready Diagnostic. The iReady Diagnostic will assess students' skills in the areas of reading and math. This will accomplish two things. First, it will give teachers and staff an idea of each students' academic skill level so we will know how to address their individual needs. Second, the system will place students on their own individual academic pathway. Students will spend time during the school week working on individual goals based on their performance on the diagnostic test. Thank you for supporting and encouraging your child to do his or her best! To learn more about i-Ready, please click on the video link below!
Please Update Emergency Contacts on Aeries
It's a new year and we kindly ask that you update your child's emergency contacts. To ensure student safety, we are not allowed to release your child to someone who is not listed as an emergency contact. If you have arranged someone different that does not typically pick up your child, please call the office so we can notify our campus supervisor at the dismissal gate. If applicable, please also make sure that our front office has a copy of the most recent custody orders. Thank you for your kind attention to these matters.

Cell Phone Policy Reminders
This week we will remind students about our cellphone and smartwatch policy as indicated in our Student Parent Handbook. Use of personal technology during the instructional day and in our after school programs is a distraction to the school learning environment. We ask that you review the following expectations with your child(ren):
- Students can bring a cellphone and/or smartwatch to school but they must be turned OFF when they enter campus (not on silent or vibrate).
- They can place it in their backpack or hand it to their teacher at the start of the day.
- If a student turns on and/or uses their cellphone or smartwatch it will be confiscated by a staff member and returned to the student at the end of the school day.
- If a student's cellphone or smartwatch is confiscated a 2nd time, the principal will call home and return the phone to the student at the end of the school day.
- If a student's cellphone or smartwatch is confiscated a 3rd time, the student's parent/guardian must first meet with the principal and the cellphone or smartwatch will be returned to the parent.
Thank you in advance for your support in making sure cellphones and smartwatches do not disrupt our school learning environment.
