Cold Winter Days are the Perfect Time to...
On a cold winter's day, there are plenty of fun indoor activities you can enjoy with children. Here are some ideas:
1. Baking Together
- Bake cookies, brownies, or cupcakes. Kids can help with mixing, pouring, and, of course, decorating.
- Try making simple winter-themed treats like snowman-shaped cookies or hot cocoa cupcakes.
2. Build an Indoor Fort
- Use blankets, pillows, and furniture to build a cozy indoor fort. Once it's complete, you can read books, play games, or even have a little indoor picnic inside.
3. Craft Time
- Make winter-themed crafts such as paper snowflakes, snowman ornaments, or handprint art with white paint to resemble snowflakes.
- Create DIY snow globes using mason jars and glitter.
4. Indoor Scavenger Hunt
- Hide small toys or treats around the house and make a list of clues for your kids to follow to find them. Make it winter-themed, like "Find something that looks like snow" or "Find a mitten."
5. Watch Winter Movies
- Cozy up with some classic winter movies, like Frozen or Home Alone. You can even have a mini movie marathon with hot cocoa.
6. Science Experiments
- Try some simple indoor science experiments, like making a baking soda and vinegar volcano or growing crystals with salt.
- You can also explore winter weather by experimenting with ice melting or freezing bubbles.
7. Winter-Themed Sensory Bin
- Create a sensory bin filled with fake snow, cotton balls, or rice, and add in winter-themed toys like miniature snowmen, penguins, or polar bears
8. Indoor Obstacle Course
- Set up an obstacle course using furniture, cushions, and toys. Time the kids as they run through it, or create challenges like crawling under a table or jumping over pillows.
9. Puzzle or Board Game Time
- Gather around the table for a puzzle or board game. Choose something cozy, like a winter-themed puzzle or a family-friendly game like Guess Who? or Candy Land.
10. Story Time and Puppet Show
- Read books with winter themes, such as The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats or Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson.
- Put on a puppet show with stuffed animals or simple hand puppets.
Also, don't forget about our PTO yearbook cover design contest! Submissions are due January 31 to Ms. Holzhuter!
These activities can help make a cold winter day feel warm and memorable for both kids and adults!

Special Purchase Committee
PTO Members ~ We need 3 volunteers!
Every year, the PTO creates a Special Purchase Committee to decide and allocate additional PTO funds for the school year for Campbell Elementary. The Committee is formed of the PTO Treasurer, PTO President, Principal, a Campbell Staff Member and 3 non Board PTO members. If you are a PTO member and not on the current Board and would like to participate on the Special Purchase Committee, please email mailto:treasurer@campbellpto.org for more details by January 31st.
