Farewell to PSD’s 2023-24 Student Board Representatives
We bid farewell to our 2023-24 student board representatives, Kimberly Joya Manzanarez, Meia Ng, and Samantha Quiroga. We honored their dedication to the district and the students of Pasco during a special recognition.
Each student received a sweatshirt from the school or college they will be attending this fall, along with a commemorative clock, and a plaque and certificate acknowledging their contributions.
Best of luck to Kimberly, Meia, and Samantha in all your future endeavors. Your futures are indeed bright!
Crumbl Cookies Honored with "Partners in Kindness" Award for Generous Contributions to Pasco Schools
We recognized Kevin Hatch, owner of Crumbl Cookies stores in Pasco and Richland, with a "Partners in Kindness" (PinK) award. This accolade is in recognition of his substantial contributions to our schools and community.
Since 2022, Mr. Hatch has generously donated Crumbl Cookies valued at over $14,000 to various programs across the district. His donations have not only sweetened numerous district events but have also provided substantial support to students, staff, and families at several elementary, middle, and high schools.
The PinK award celebrates community members and businesses that go above and beyond in their kindness and dedication to the welfare of our students and educational community. Mr. Hatch’s ongoing contributions exemplify the spirit of community partnership and philanthropy.
2024-2025 Budget Presentation #3
Kevin Hebdon, Executive Director of Fiscal Services, presented the 2024-2025 General Fund budget, including forecasts for the next three years. He also presented the 2024-2025 budgets for Capital Projects, Debt Service, ASB, and Transportation Vehicle Funds, each also with three-years forecasted, and discussed the subsequent steps in the budget development and adoption process.
The board is scheduled to hold a public hearing during the board meeting on July 23, 2024, and finalize the adoption of the 2024-2025 budget.
Outrageous Outcomes Board Progress Monitoring Report: 9th Grade Algebra
John Steach, CEO of the Center for Educational Effectiveness, provided a progress report on monitoring the district’s goal of ensuring 100% of students will pass Algebra by the end of 9th grade, as outlined in Outrageous Outcome 2.
During the presentation, Mr. Steach analyzed historical data trends, discussed benchmark and stretch targets, and compared data related to our educational goals. Following his presentation, Carla Lobos, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, detailed the district's strategies to improve algebra performance among 9th graders. These strategies include enhancing Tier 1 instruction, improving student attendance, fostering a culture of belonging, and providing additional support such as targeted enhancement and intervention programs, Saturday school, extended trimesters, and after-school tutoring.
The district plans to continue aligning its strategic plans, school improvement plans, and state of the school reviews, while consistently monitoring data. Additionally, there will be a focus on strengthening the district’s multi-tier systems of support for academics and addressing chronic absenteeism districtwide.

During the presentation, Mr. Steach analyzed historical data trends, discussed benchmark and stretch targets, and compared data related to our educational goals. Following his presentation, Mira Gobel, Assistant Superintendent of Schools & Social Emotional Learning, outlined the district’s current strategies for improving graduation rates. These strategies include enhancing tier-1 instruction, addressing attendance issues, fostering a culture of belonging, implementing intervention teams, providing targeted support and intervention, and offering additional resources such as Saturday School, extended trimesters, and tutoring.
Moving forward, the district plans to continue aligning its strategic plans, school improvement plans, and state of the school reviews, while consistently monitoring data. Additionally, there will be a focus on strengthening the district’s multi-tier systems of support for academics and addressing chronic absenteeism districtwide.
