He has also extended his service to the wider region by participating in community initiatives and disaster relief efforts. Mr. Bowery also served three years in the United States Army.
For over 20 years, RULH High School students have insisted that Mr. Bowery read the script for the annual Homecoming Ceremony and Prom Grand March. Mr. Bowery also has organized a steak dinner for graduating seniors for 22 years. Mr. Bowery’s personality creates a warm classroom environment that students remember well after their school days are completed.

Mr. Douglas Bowery represents the highest caliber of educators with nearly 30 years of empowering young minds, a steadfast commitment to inclusive education, and unwavering service to his community. RULH Celebrates School Psychologist, Mrs. Betsy Drake
RULH Local Schools are blessed to have a fantastic school psychologist, Mrs. Betsy Drake! Next week (November 11th-15th) is School Psychology week, and it is also Mrs. Drake's birthday! Happy birthday Mrs. Drake!
During the week of November 11–15, 2024, schools nationwide will celebrate National School Psychology Week (NSPW) to highlight the critical work of school psychologists. School psychologists provide direct support and interventions to students; consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals (i.e., school counselors, school social workers) to improve support strategies; work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies; and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services.
Ripley Union Lewis Huntington School District is incredibly fortunate to have Betsy Drake, Ed.S., NCSP, as our school psychologist. Betsy’s passion to help students thrive and excel is a valuable asset to the RULH students and staff. Betsy lives in Brown County with her husband Cody, and two sons’ Knox (2) and Korbin (5 months).
