Hello Levelland Lobos!
This week we get to honor our amazing school counselors. These ladies work incredibly hard for all our students and we greatly appreciate all that they do.
Below are numerous examples of how great our school district is. As Winston Churchill stated, "This price of greatness is responsibility." I truly believe that all Levelland ISD staff share in the responsibility of the numerous student achievements throughout the school year.
Becky McCutchen, Superintendent of Schools
Have a great week!
Go Lobos!
All Things LISD..................
Let's Celebrate National School Counselor's Week!
Levelland ISD #expectsexcellence and celebrates our School Counselors this week during National School Counselor's Week! Our Counselors on each campus add a unique contribution to help students develop the academic and social skills needed to succeed in school and later in life. Beyond supporting the social and emotional needs of students, our counselors also help students explore their interests and potential career options. If you see your counselor this week, give them a high-five and a "thank you!" We love our counselors and appreciate the impact they make on our kids! https://files.gabbart.com/455/counselorsweek.mp4

Celebrating our CTE Educators and Courses.........
It's CTE Month so we will be featuring our CTE Educators and Courses all month long. Today we are featuring Hospitality and Tourism at LHS & LMS! LHS is lucky to have Mrs. Oaks and the amazing culinary classes that open doors after high school. Students learn nutrition, sanitation & food safety as well as management of a variety of food service operations, before moving into creating & competing in the culinary world. And Mrs. Young does a fabulous job preparing LMS kids for the real world. LMS students learn the basics of working in the restaurant industry. Students learn sanitation & safety rules as well as recipe reading, preparation, & baking science through preparing meals every day. This course also offers students hands-on experiences in real-world restaurants, enabling them to seek jobs after high school. We are proud of these CTE educators and what the courses offer!

NHS Project
Our LHS National Honor Society's January Community Service Project was a success! The NHS chose to love animals this month and brought 420 pounds of dog and cat food for the Levelland Animal Shelter. The NHS Officers: Ethan Parkinson, Emily Perez, Tea Johnson, and Addisen Campbell delivered the food this morning. They got a nice surprise too, when they got to love on little puppies that will be up for adoption soon! We #expectexcellence and are thankful that our NHS has the compassion to help out our Levelland community!
Holocaust Remembrance Day
Capitol students recognized Holocaust Remembrance Day. This day was created to “educate students about the Holocaust and inspire in students a sense of responsibility to recognize and uphold human value and to prevent future atrocities.” Capitol students read "The Whispering Town" by Jennifer Elvgren. They discussed and wrote about the characters who were upstanders, and discussed ways they could always stand up for what is right.
YELL Community Service
LHS is so thankful for this Chamber YELL Program that teaches our youth to be better leaders. Thank you, YELL for making others feel special with this Community Project!
Lion's Club Honors LHS Students of the Month!
LHS Students of the Month were honored by the Lion's Club and Dr. Matthew Birdwell today for their efforts to be great citizens! Congratulations to freshmen Danica Sanchez and Daniel Gonzalez on being nominated by your teachers for going above and beyond. Thank you to the Lion's Club for always honoring our students!

Robotics Mats & Buses are a Hit!
Over the weekend, our Capitol and LMS Robotics Teams traveled to Texas Tech to receive their new Robotics Mats. Now Robotics students will get to work coding their challenges and building skills on these mats. They will meet on March 8th for a trial run. Then they will compete on April 12th & 26th! Our Robotics Teams send out a big thank you to their teachers who #expectexcellence: Clara Sanders, Reba Griggs, and Kayla Kelly. To make the day even better, they got to roll up to the Robotics Event on a new bus, and they loved it! We are excited for these students and can't wait to watch what you learn through this amazing CTE program!
Art

6th Grade Art
We will just make this a day of art.......congratulations to these LMS 6th Graders on their Keyhole Artwork. Ms. Jackson says, "My sixth-grade art classes had a contest to create what you would see when “Looking through the Keyhole” of their door. They did an amazing job and were extremely creative! I’m so proud of my students hard work! There were forty-four that advanced to the second round and 18 to the final round.
Congratulations to the winners:
1st place — Sarah
2nd place (tie) — Jagger, Jeremiah, Logan, Myrcea, and Perla
3rd place (tie) — Aiden, Bella, CJ, Ethan, Isabella, and Yael
Below are the 44 that advanced to the second round."
This looks like a lot of fun and we are so proud, again, that we offer these classes to our kids so that they can learn more about the world and themselves through art! We have some amazing artists! https://files.gabbart.com/459/leeannart.mp4
South Artist
What better way to celebrate cold days stuck inside than with art? Our third art story today celebrating our amazing teachers who reach students in a different way! These South students in Mrs. Mary Bara's Art classes practiced using their motor skills to trace, cut, and put together these beautiful snowflakes that can be seen around the building. Like real snowflakes and children, none of these are the same but oh so beautiful in their own way! Great job kids!

The food item of the month is..............
granola bars!
BBP is always accepting donations.
The LHS NHS challenge you
to be a Super Bowl 59 Champion! What if you donated $59? That feeds 8 students for one weekend. What if you donated $5.90 for every touch down? What if you donated $5.90 a week to feed a student all year long? What if you donated 59 cents a day for 365 days? That would feed 30 students for one weekend. What if you donated $5.90 which would nearly fill a weekend bag? What if you could donate $590? That would feed 2 students almost all year. More ideas are donating $2 for each point made, or donate the number on your favorite player's jersey! Our NHS hopes you feel like being a Super Bowl Champion! Every bit helps!
