Sierra Community Weekly Update
October 14-18 2024
Important Reminders to Students
Behavior Expectations
Please be aware that we have a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that creates an unsafe or disruptive environment in our learning community. Effective immediately, any student who engages in violent behavior—including fighting, bullying, harassment, or gang-related activities—on school property or during any LCPS-sponsored event may lose the privilege to participate in all extracurricular activities for the remainder of the school year. This includes, but is not limited to, field trips, sporting events, and dances.
LCPS POLICY JI- STUDENT EXPRESSION, CONDUCT, AND SAFETY IMPLEMENTATION GUIDANCE
No Cell Phone Policy
In our ongoing efforts to effectively meet student needs and prioritize safety and well-being, I want to remind everyone to reinforce the no cell phone policy at the start of each class.
Consistently mitigating the use of devices during instructional activities is crucial not only for academic performance but also for maintaining a safe and focused environment. Please make it a daily routine to remind students about this policy as they enter your classroom.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our students' success and safety.
Required School Supplies
Students are required to bring their laptop and charger to school every day. Please help your student to remember to bring them.

Attendance Matters
The school year has begun, and Sierra Middle School has high expectations for your child’s learning. To ensure that your child can reach their fullest potential, we are asking for your commitment to make sure that your child is in attendance every day. A missed day is a lost opportunity for students to learn. Research shows students who improve their attendance and grades in middle school have a higher success rate in high school.
Students who miss consecutive days in a row will receive phone call from the school and if needed a home visit. If your student is out of school we need documentation for our attendance records.
Student Information Updates
Students are back to school and it is important that all students have updated information. This update allows them to access the computers, provide emergency contact information, and gives necessary health information to the nurses.
Below you will find the directions for updating the information on ParentVue. If you need assistance with ParentVue, please call our front office at (575)527-9640.
