Lake Fenton High School
Newsletter - September 2020
Blended Learning at LFHS
Hello Lake Fenton Families,
I hope you take a few minutes to watch the video above to see how school will look and feel different this year at the high school. This newsletter is also packed full of important information. Please bookmark this as you may want to reference it throughout the next week as we plan for our blended return.
I am as giddy as many of you are about returning to school on Monday after such a long time of empty hallways. This is big! I cannot wait to see you all and have all our students engaged in learning either at home or in our classrooms.
Have a wonderful weekend LFHS and we will see you soon.
Proud to BE BLUE!

WHAT I NEED TO KNOW:
- The building opens at 8AM, school ends at 2PM and the building closes promptly at 3PM. Please plan accordingly. No students may loiter in the building after school.
- Students will be dismissed to classes at 8:15AM and classes begin at 8:30AM.
- We will use THREE separate entrances to socially distance into the building: Student Drivers in the Athletic Wing Hallway; Bus Transport in the Commons Main Entrance; Parent Drop-offs in the Band Wing Entrance.
- Breakfast is available on your way to first hour. Students have several extra minutes in first hour to eat.
- Students will have NO LOCKERS and must carry their backpack to each class.
- Student need to bring water bottles (water only) to school as water fountains are shut off.
- Lunch will be eaten in your 4th hour class. Students will remain at desks, six feet socially distanced, but may take masks off for eating. Masks must be worn at all other times in the building.
- Students are encouraged to request bathroom passes during class so bathrooms are not congested in between classes.
- All hallway traffic must stay to the right -- students may not congregate in hallways.
- The main stairway is one-way traffic -- A wing is UP and B wing is DOWN.
- All desks will be cleaned every class period by teachers to allow for the next group of students to sit at desks safely.
- Fully remote students must still follow our bell schedule in order to attend each class period. Please be sure to ask your 4th hour teacher which lunch schedule you follow.

Attendance is Important - Even Remotely!
Good attendance helps children do well in school and eventually in the workplace. Good attendance matters for school success, starting as early as prekindergarten and throughout elementary school. By middle and high school poor attendance is a leading indicator of dropout. Developing the habit of attendance prepares students for success on the job and in life. It is critical that our HS students begin to prepare for daily attendence even when they are learning remotely from home. Each teacher will be taking hourly attendance throughout both our remote and blended learning approaches!
