DHES News
Thank You!
From all of the teachers and staff here at Dundee Highlands, thank you to the PTC and all of the parents that provided a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week! All of the treats, notes, and thoughtful gifts definitely lifted our spirits. Thank you for supporting and encouraging our wonderful staff!
Summer READ300
IT IS TIME TO DEFEND OUR TITLE! Last summer, Dundee Highlands won the Summer READ300 challenge at the elementary school level! Let's make sure we stay on top!
D300 students of all ages are invited to participate in the Summer READ300 program. We would appreciate your support in promoting registration and excitement for Summer READ300 with your students and school community! Students who successfully complete the program requirements will earn a certificate and t-shirt. In addition, the elementary school, middle school, and high school with the highest percentage of students completing Summer READ300 program requirements within their grade-level band will earn a Summer READ300 Champion banner for their school! For more details, please visit the Summer READ300 webpage.
STAMPE Day Volunteer
Reminder that STAMPE Day Volunteer forms went home earlier this week and need to be returned by May 12th. I've linked a copy of the form below. Thanks for supporting STAMPE Day!
Circle of Friends (after school care)
Circe of Friends provides after school care for students and families that require this support. This is run through the Dundee Township Park District and I wanted to share some important information about Open Registration for Circle of Friends for the upcoming school year:
- Registration, paperwork required, and fees for 2025-2026 are on our website: Before & After School Care (COF) | Dundee Township Park District
- Open Registration begins at 12 am on Monday, June 2 and close at 11:59 pm Thursday, July 31.
- All registrations must be emailed. (Staff at our front desks can help if in person support is needed.)
- We offer scholarships for those with a temporary financial need. The application and supporting documentation can be submitted with the registration: Corey_Siers_Memorial_Scholarship_Fund_Application.pdf
- Just like school, families need to register each year.
Spring iReady Diagnostic/Mr. Kouri in a Dunk Tank
We are officially done with iReady diagnostics for the 24-25 school year! We are incredibly proud of our students determination and grit this academic year.
We had 59% of students in the building who met their typical growth benchmark in Math. That is an 8% increase from last year! Way to go Highlanders!
We had 62% of students in the building who met their typical growth benchmark in Reading. That is a slight decrease from last year, but still very strong!
We will continue to strive for improvements next year and look to meet a goal of 65% of students meeting their typical growth benchmark in both Math and Reading.
Time to Order Your Yearbook!
It's time to order your student(s)’s copy of the 2024-2025 Dundee Highlands Yearbook! Yearbooks are $22 each, with a price break for those purchasing multiple yearbooks.
BUY YOUR YEARBOOK(S) TODAY at the DHES Yearbook Order Center website: https://yearbookordercenter.com
The full school year will be included in the yearbook. Therefore, yearbooks will not be delivered until after the end of school. A summer yearbook pickup event will be communicated to all purchasers via email.
5th GRADE PARENTS - We need your help with 2 special sections of the yearbook that are dedicated specifically to our 5th Grade Students. Check out the 5th Grade Yearbook Extras flier or read on for more information.
1 - BABY PHOTOS - One of our great Highlands traditions is a Who’s Who of 5th Grade Baby Photos in the Yearbook. It is so much fun to walk down memory lane and see how much they have grown! Please send a baby photo of your 5th Grader (approximately 6-12 months of age would be perfect) to DundeeHighlandsYearbook@gmail.com by May 1. Please make the subject line descriptive (example: 5th Grade Baby Photo - Joe Jones).
2 - NOTE OF ENCOURAGEMENT - Make their last DHES yearbook extra special with a personal Note of Encouragement to your 5th Grader! The 5th Grade Notes Order Form is available to complete online. Please complete this form and send payment ($10 per note) electronically by May 15. Alternatively, payment can be sent to school in a sealed envelope labeled "Yearbook 5th Grade Note" with your student’s name. All notes will appear in every copy of the yearbook.
Bell Ringing Ceremony/5th Grade Clap Out
The last day of school is upon us and we want to invite all families to two wonderful traditions. At approximately 2:00 PM, we will begin clapping out our 5th grade students. Parents are invited to line the sidewalks around the bell. 5th grade students will lead our classes out to the bell for our Bell Ringing Ceremony. The Bell Ringing Ceremony will take place around 2:05 PM. We hope to see you there!
Graduating Senior Visit
As is District 300 tradition, graduating seniors will visit elementary schools for a clap out through our building. This will occur on May 15th at approximately 9:36AM. We will be sure to share pictures of this wonderful tradition.

2025 Summer Fine Arts
Below is more information about the amazing Fine Arts Summer Camps that are being offered. Check it out!
Party Volunteer Reminder
As a reminder, our PTC organizes all volunteers for our parties during the year. In order to keep the amount of adults and individuals in a crowded space, we like to keep the amount of volunteers to five adults. This includes three volunteers per party, the head room parent, and the classroom photographer. If you wish to volunteer for a party, please watch your email for the specific sign up. In addition to signing up with the PTC, you must complete the districts Raptor Volunteer application each school year. It is always linked at the bottom of the Virtual Backpack, but have moved it just below for your reference. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
