We were impressed with our students and the nice job they did completing work and communicating with their teachers as we experienced our first AMI days. We appreciate your patience with our office team as we work to make updates to the attendance for students based on those three AMI days. As a reminder, students are considered "present" for class when they complete and submit their work. If they do not complete and submit their work they are marked "absent". So far we have used 3 of the 5 potential AMI days and both of the approved snow days.

At SMS our staff will participate in trainings on Thursday, January 16th and Tuesday, January 21st right after school to review our practices with intruders and security. The training we follow is called ASIRT. Due to these trainings we will not have any after school activities on these days. Anyone on our campus may be able to hear some of our training which includes us using the intercom and giving directions over the intercom to our staff.

Students will participate in an intruder drill on Tuesday, January 28th during the school day and we will activate our Safe Defend system for this drill. We will inform the students multiple times about this drill and our teachers will work with their students teaching them how we stay safe at SMS.
