The Principal's Corner
Dear School 6 Families,
The past two weeks have been filled with excitement and celebration at School #6! We marked the 90th day of school in style, recognizing how far we’ve come this year with joy and enthusiasm. Looking ahead, I’m excited for us to come together as one unit on February 12, 2025 to celebrate the 101st day of school! Be sure to review the flyer shared via Dojo and linked below for details.
This week, we’re celebrating National School Counseling Week and showing our appreciation for Ms. Buscio, whose dedication and support make a world of difference for our students.
Thank you, families, for your continued partnership and support. It truly makes our school community stronger every day!
Warm regards,
Dr. Mendez
Sixers Scoop
Our 4th and 5th graders had the exciting opportunity to attend The Ways of Water Assembly, presented by the Grand Falloons! Through an engaging and interactive performance, students explored the water cycle, learning about evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and the importance of water conservation. The lively presentation kept students entertained while deepening their understanding of how water moves through our world. It was a fun and educational experience that left our students thinking about the vital role water plays in our daily lives!
Lunchtime Fun: Grand Prix Edition
Our amazing lunch aides treated our second graders to a special lunchtime reward: a Grand Prix-style race in the gym! Students had a blast racing their cars, cheering on their classmates, and enjoying some friendly competition. It was a fantastic way to celebrate positive behavior and make lunchtime extra fun.
At School #6, we love and appreciate our incredible lunch aides for all they do to support our students each day!

Health and Wellness Reminders from Nurse Falk
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we are in the midst of flu season, we want to ensure that our school remains a safe and healthy environment for all students and staff. With many viruses circulating in our community, it is important that we all work together to reduce the spread of illness.
Please DO NOT send your child to school if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
Fever (temperature of 100.4F or higher)
Call the nurse if you need a thermometer.Runny nose
Cough
Body aches
Vomiting
Diarrhea
If your child shows any of these symptoms, they should stay home until they are symptom-free and fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication. This allows them to recover fully and helps protect others from becoming ill.
We understand the challenges of managing illness during the school year, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy. If you have any questions or need guidance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school nurse.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
Warm Regards,
Nurse Falk

Many parents are informing teachers of Early Pick Ups or Children Not Attending Aftercare via Class Dojo the day of. Please note that teachers are teaching and may not get to check emails or messages sent via Class Dojo.
Please be aware of the following, noted in the Elementary School Handbook page 7: Parents requesting their child be excused from school before the school day ends must send written verification in advance signifying the reason, time, and who will pick up the student.
