Happenings at the Hive
December 20, 2024
Dear Solon Stinger Families,
As the holiday season approaches, we want to take a moment to reflect on the many blessings we share as a school community. Your continued support and partnership mean the world to us, and we are so grateful for the kindness and collaboration that make Solon Robinson Elementary School such a special place.
This winter break brings exciting updates to our school! Over the break, our classrooms will be receiving brand-new furniture to enhance the learning environment for our students. Additionally, we’re thrilled to announce that our new front entrance and administration section of the building will be ready when we return in January! While our arrival and dismissal procedures will remain the same for now, we look forward to sharing updates about new procedures in January as we continue to make progress on these exciting changes.
We are so excited to take this next step in the construction process and to see how these updates will benefit our school community. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work to improve our shared spaces.
From all of us at Solon, we wish you a holiday season filled with warmth, joy, and cherished time with your loved ones. May the new year bring health, happiness, and continued growth for us all.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,
The Solon Robinson Elementary Team

What's Happening in 5th grade?
Ms. DeLaughter's Class
Miss DeLaughter's class has been busy learning through fun experiences!
December has been an exciting month for us! First, we were so excited to win the Festive Fridays! The students were so dedicated to bringing in money for a great cause. We took a field trip to Medieval Times to go along with our CKLA Unit about Don Quixote. The students had lunch there and cheered on our knight as they jousted and fought! We had so much fun! The following day the students graduated D.A.R.E.. All semester the students have been learning so much from Officer G about how to be drug free along with other skills to help them make the best decisions in life. Finally, we wrapped up our CKLA unit and wore some medieval knight masks as we took our last test for the semester!
Ms. Ewen's Class
In Ms. Ewen’s room, we have been ending the semester with a lot of fun! Our two biggest events were our field trip to Medieval Times, to go along with our CKLA Unit about Don Quixote, and our D.A.R.E. graduation! The students had so much fun at Medieval Times as we cheered on our yellow knight! The following day, the students graduated D.A.R.E.. The students learned so much about making responsible decisions and standing up for what is right from Officer G. He is an amazing role model for the kids and we have loved every minute of D.A.R.E. this year. It has been a great year in 5th grade so far!
Ms. Wool's Class
Ms. Wool’s class was very busy this past month! In our CKLA unit, we read a funny novel called “Don Quixote.” The kids loved it! We topped off the unit by attending the Medieval Times Field trip, where the kids ate with their hands and cheered on our assigned “Yellow Knight!” The following day, they participated in their 5th grade Music program and DARE graduation. A student from my class won the bike raffle, so that was a nice surprise! Finally, we ended the month with our class Christmas party, where the kids planned the games & ate goodies. Fun was had by all!
