The Manning Minute
February 9, 2025
Dear Manning Families,
As we approach the end of this week, we’ll already be halfway through February—this semester is flying by! Just a quick reminder that there will be no school for students on Friday, February 14, due to a non-student contact day, and Monday, February 17, in observance of Presidents’ Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 18. Enjoy the long weekend!
Starting Tuesday, February 18, students will no longer be able to pop microwave popcorn at school. Unfortunately, frequent overcooking has been causing smoke in the cafeteria and could potentially damage our microwaves. Moving forward, only pre-popped popcorn will be allowed.
Additionally, we ask that families avoid sending large, shareable lunch items to school, such as whole pizzas or big buckets of fried chicken. This helps us prevent food sharing, which isn’t a safe practice at school. However, families are always welcome to send individual meals or snacks for their own students.
Wishing you a great week!
Matt

Manning students will attend Outdoor Lab on Tuesday, 4/29 - Friday, 5/2.
Manning is Collecting for Grub Club
Collection is from 2/10- 2/28
There are students in Jeffco that do not have a permanent home or a hot meal to go home to at night. As educators we know this affects their ability to perform in the classroom, and as human beings we know what this can do to a student’s spirit. Every spring, Grub Club ensures all students experiencing homelessness or emancipation in Jeffco can have food and hygiene products throughout the school year.
This year Manning is collecting travel size hygiene products (full size are fine too!) Please consider sending in items to your students advisement classroom teacher. Manning PTA will provide a special treat for the top three advisement classes that collect the most items. Don't want to shop? Consider a monetary donation by clicking on the Grub Club pic and add Manning as your school name.
Share your Career on 4/18
Speakers needed for Manning’s Career Day on April 18th!
Career days give students access to various careers that can help them start planning for their futures. They allow students the opportunity to explore career experiences outside of community helpers, educators and what their parents and family members do. A successful career day can open students’ eyes to a world they didn’t know was an option. If you or someone you know would like present to our students, please email Laura Warren laura-warren@hotmail.com or Danelle Yocum danelle.yocum@jeffco.k12.co.us if you are interested or have any questions. Thank you!

ATTENTION! A New club is starting at Manning!
The Gardening Club is getting off to a small start and needs donations and support. The Garden Club’s main focus is to start growing some flowers and other seedlings and to sell the plants in the spring to make money for next year.
We are in need of seed donations (leftovers from last year are fine), cups or small starter pots, seed trays, clear plastic juice bottles (to try winter sowing) and potting soil bags.
Please email Ms. K (kkeodone@jeffcoschools.us) to set up a drop off time and/or to ask questions.
Thank you,
Gardening Club.
