Welcome to our new Cavaliers! We have a special Freshman Transition Program planned for students on August 7th. Registration is from 8:45-9:15 am in the lower lobby/ There will be a parent meeting from 9:15-9:40am in the auditorium. Click the link below to see the full schedule.

Important: Rising 9th graders should bring their currently issued Chromebook and charger to trade in.

The program will end at 11:30. Students with last names A-M will be picked up in the front of the school. Students with last names N-Z will be picked up in the back of the school.

Participation is easy:

1. Read a book or books. You can read anything you want - there is not a required reading list!

2. Log the book on our short and simple Book Log Form by August 12, 2024.

3. Celebrate with us in August! We will go on a field trip to the Dairy Queen in Daleville for a Summer Reading Celebration! All participants will receive a sweet treat on us!

4. Keep reading! For each additional book you read and log you will receive an LB Reads Scratch Off Prize ticket. All tickets are winners!

5. Looking for a Good Book? Check out the LB Reads '24 List! If you read and log a book or books from this list you will receive an additional scratch off prize ticket!

• LBHS Team Store

The Drama Troupe will be taking part in the VHSL One Act Competition in October.
Tryouts will be held on Monday 12th, Tuesday 13th and Thursday 14th of August. 3:45 -5:30 in the Auditorium. Rehearsals will be each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday through October. The date of the competition is not yet set.
Please have students turn up to the Auditions with a short monologue ready.

• To participate in open gyms, fields, conditioning, or practice, each athlete must submit a new VHSL physical form dated 5/1/2024 or after. All current physicals will expire after 6/30/2024. Physicals must be on file with the athletic director.

All dual enrollment fees for first semester classes are due by Fri., August 16, 2024 in order to receive college credit. Please see Mrs. Dewease or Ms. Beard in the counseling office if you have any questions.

The last day for students to make a schedule change request is Friday, August 16. Please complete the Google form located on the main LBHS website to make a request.

LBHS will be administering the SAT on Saturday, November 2nd! Create an account and sign up on the College Board website. Although many colleges are test optional, SAT scores are sometimes necessary for scholarship applications and can be a great supplement to college applications!

Back To School and Mental Health: Tips for Supporting Students for a Successful Year Ahead!

• Promoting a Healthy Transition: Inspire students to communicate their thoughts & feelings, create consistent routines, make sure they are as prepared as possible, and encourage in-person social interactions.
• Help Them: Prioritize important things such as sleep, exercise, limiting social media, time management, self-care, etc.
• Build Support Networks: Connect students with positive influences and role models that show them love and comfort. Display these uplifting relationships in your personal lives.
• Practice Gratitude & Growth Mindset: Expressing appreciation for the small things can be a powerful tool to turn focus from struggles to blessings. Consider having your student engage in a gratitude journal or list positive aspects of school to set as a reminder.

Underclassmen Retake Picture Day: October 4th
Senior Retake Picture Day: October 18th
Club Picture Day: November 22nd

All Formals and Casuals must be taken by the Prestige Senior Portrait Division of Lifetouch Studios.
All poses (casual and formal) must be chosen by: Friday, November 15th. This date is the last day to guarantee a formal and casual senior portrait in the yearbook. No exceptions will be made! Thank you!
