Bridport Community Newletter

Week Nine
Dear BCS Community-
This past week was filled with opportunities for our students to participate in both our small school community, the broader Bridport community and beyond. BCS kids showed their best selves all week- and made some incredible connections and memories.
Some highlights of the week were...
1. Going to ECHO with K-4 and seeing the joy when we walked into the Mo Willem's exhibit!
2. Mr. Pratt telling us all about Fire Safety, and pretending to spray Mrs. Walker with the big fire hose! (Thanks Bridport Fire Department!)
3. Trunk or Treat festivities on Friday evening!
4. Spending time with Milo, the therapy dog, on Monday.
We are looking forward to a fun-filled week starting tomorrow. As a reminder- Picture Day is tomorrow afternoon, and the beginning of Spirit Week!
Best,
Jenny

October's All School Read Aloud
In October, students will be working with the book Lets Talk about Race by Julius Lester. This book helps students understand that everyone is the same on the inside. The differences are in the details of each person’s own stories. It allows students to explore their own thoughts about race and what makes each person unique. It’s a fine book for starting a discussion about race and judging people based on their skin color, hair, clothes, etc.
Here are some resources we will be using to talk about the book as well as some links to watch the book at home.

This work is directly related to ACSD's Strategic Plan, specifically targeting Goal #1- Belonging in which it states "Everyone will feel safe, welcomed, and included in our schools and the district. Students and families will be able to engage with the school system in valuable ways"

3. Respect teachers, peers, and supplies
On Monday October 21st every class earned over 18 stars to unlock the music games! All classes' favorite game is easily Incredibox! To play this students drag and drop outfits onto the characters to create their own music. Here is the link to my musical website with many different musical games if you are interested in witnessing the wonderful music your children can make!
