Let's Celebrate National Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month
Eagle Ridge Elementary’s Hispanic Heritage Night on October 16, 2024, was a vibrant celebration of culture, unity, and fun! The school cafeteria transformed into a colorful fiesta, with students and families proudly sharing their heritage through creative projects that showcased the rich histories of various Hispanic countries. From poster boards to traditional crafts, the cafeteria was filled with vibrant displays of flags, famous landmarks, and cultural icons. The sense of community was truly heartwarming. The event had an incredible turnout, with students and parents laughing, enjoying music, and filled with pride. Hispanic Heritage Night truly brought the Eagle Ridge family together, reminding everyone how special it is to share and learn about each other’s cultures.
A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for hosting the Fall Festival Monster Mash Party on October 18, 2024! Despite the rainy weather, the event was a huge success, and fun was had by all. Families enjoyed a fantastic night filled with activities like the monster cake walk, a spooky haunted hallway, face painting, tattoos, crafts, games, a costume contest, dancing, and the ever-popular trunk or treat. The kids had a blast on the bounce slide! Apex even came out and joined in the fun to celebrate with Eagle Ridge. The food trucks served up some delicious treats, adding to the excitement. ERE is incredibly grateful to our PTA for putting together such an amazing fundraiser!

Life Skills and Wellness Student Self-Evaluation Survey
Life Skills and Wellness (LSW) Student Survey Opt-Out Form Life Skills and Wellness (LSW) builds confidence and supports mental and emotional health, enabling students to overcome challenges and thrive as they prepare for the 21st-century workplace. As part of the District’s School Improvement Plan (SIP), the LSW initiative promotes whole-child-centered support services, helping students succeed academically while building employability skills and resiliency. To guide effective LSW instruction, the district will administer a brief Fall and Spring survey. The data collected will solely be used by authorized BCPS staff to direct school activities and provide personalized LSW services for students. Specifically, the type of formative data collected will focus on self-awareness, self-management, relationship skills, decision-making, and resiliency. To learn more about the LSW Student Survey for grades 4-12, visit the LSW District website or by scheduling an appointment with your school’s LSW Liaison. Additional parent resources and strategies on how to incorporate LSW at home can be found on our LSW Families and Students Resources page.
From October 25 - 31, 2024, all students in grades 4 and 5 will have an opportunity to participate in the Life Skills and Wellness Student Survey by Rethink Ed. The purpose is to prepare our students for the 21st-century workplace by identifying life and employability skills that are supportive both academically and beyond the classroom. Parents have the opportunity to opt their child out of this 45-question/15-minute survey, by printing and returning the opt form to your child's teacher by 10/24/2024.

25-26 School Calendar
We are excited to announce the Superintendent's Calendar Committee is seeking your input on two proposed calendar options for the upcoming 2025/26 school year.
Both calendars offer the same number of instructional days, holidays, breaks and semester exams before the Winter Break. The options vary in scheduling.
We value your input in creating the best possible calendar for our students and families. Please take a few minutes to review the proposed calendars and complete the survey, available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and Portuguese.
To view the differences between these options, and provide your feedback, please visit http://browardschools.com/calendarsurvey. The deadline to provide your feedback is midnight, Wednesday, October 30.
Thank you for your time and participation.
Read For the Record
Jumpstart’s premiere national campaign Read for the Record is one day of the year when millions of individuals come together to celebrate literacy and support Jumpstart in its efforts to promote early childhood education. On October 24, 2024, people across the nation will be encouraged to read the children’s book Piper Chen Sings by Phillipa Soo and Maris Pasquale Doran. Through a partnership between the Broward Children's Services Council, Broward County Public Schools, and multiple Broward Stakeholders as part of the Broward Reads campaign, books are being provided to all participating PreK and Kindergarten students, including Public Schools, Charter Schools, Private Schools and Community Early Childhood Providers. Every PreK and Kindergarten student at Eagle Ridge will receive a copy of the book to bring home on Thursday October 24. Please ask your child about the book and preview the book at the video links below.
