Sunday Chat with Principal Dothard
Hello Hornet Nation!
Attention, students! We have an exciting week ahead, and we can’t wait to kick things off with Spirit Week! This year, we’re ready to GLOW and show our school pride. What class will take home the coveted spirit stick? We’re eager to find out!
Join us for the Homecoming football game, where we’ll crown our court and cheer on our Hornets as they face off against the LHS Raiders. It’s going to be an electrifying match! The action doesn’t stop there—our Homecoming Dance will keep the party going on Saturday, September 28th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Don’t forget to support our undefeated volleyball team as they go head-to-head with Northern this Wednesday. We need your cheers to keep our winning streak alive! The Varsity game starts at 5:30 PM—let’s show our team some love!
If you need formal attire for the Homecoming Dance, stop by the College and Career Center during Nest Hour, One-Lunch, on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Thanks to our amazing HORNET community, everything is free!
Remember, the last day to purchase your dance ticket is Wednesday, either online or at the school bank. Don’t wait—grab yours before it’s too late!
Our students have been hard at work decorating the hallways, so let’s bring our school spirit all week long and help your class win the SPIRIT STICK!
The week will be what you make it, so let’s make it GREAT together!
We Are… GREAT MILLS

No Cell Phones No Headphones/Earbuds
Hornet families and students,
I want to thank everyone for keeping their cell phones off and away. We are seeing an uptick in students wearing earbuds and headphones in the hallway. If phones are off and away, we shouldn't see headphones or earbuds because they are connected to a personal device. Remeber, this applies from the start of 1st period until lunch and 7th period through 8th period. This also includes the transition between classes. Cell phones, headphones, and earbuds are allowed during the 10 minutes when the doors open at 7:50 to 8:00, One-Hour lunch, and 2:45 when the dismissal bell rings. We are off to a really great start, so let's keep this going.
Thank you,

St. Mary's College Presents...
I hope you are doing well. I want to make sure this concert was shared with you. On October 4, at 7 p.m., in the Nancy R. and Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center at St. Mary's College Maryland, the renowned group Nobuntu, a female a-cappella quartet from Zimbabwe, will be performing. They have drawn international acclaim for their inventive performances that range from traditional Zimbabwean songs to Afro Jazz to Gospel. The ensemble’s concerts are performed with pure voices, augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano), and organic, authentic dance movements.
This is a unique opportunity to see this world-class group in Southern Maryland.
