Principal's Message
Dear RNMS Families,
It’s hard to believe, but we’re almost at the finish line!
This week, our 8th graders tackled their very first Regents exams, and we couldn’t be prouder of their effort and focus. Most of our testing is now complete, with the exception of the 8th Grade FLACS exam and a few remaining makeups.
As we coast into our final week of the year, we’ve already begun celebrating the end of a great year. Today, we honored our 8th graders with their annual Moving Up BBQ, and our 6th graders enjoyed a well-earned treat from the ice cream truck to celebrate the completion of their first year of middle school.
Please take a moment to review the important information below regarding final exam makeups and next week’s schedule. The most notable change is that Monday, June 23rd, will be an early dismissal day due to anticipated high temperatures.
Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend...stay cool!
Best,
Jason Doerr

Check out some photos from the festivities below!
Schedule Changes for the Week of June 23: Due to the projected extreme heat with sustained temperatures of 94 to 99 degrees for June 23-25 and limited large-group spaces with air conditioning, we are adjusting the dismissal schedules for the last week of school. The guidelines in our newly adopted Policy 8113 direct us to do this when practicable. From Monday, June 23 through Thursday, June 26, Rye Neck Middle School will dismiss students at 11:00 AM each day.

Tuesday, June 24: 6th and 7th grade students will dismiss at 11:00 AM. 8th grade students do not have classes and should report to the Athletic Center by 12:30 PM. The 8th Grade Moving Up Ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM in the Athletic Center.

Senior Walk-Through of RNUFSD Schools: On Monday, June 23, our graduating seniors will make one final “victory lap” through every Rye Neck UFSD school before their commencement later in the week. They are expected to reach the Middle School around 10:30 a.m. If your schedule allows, we invite families and staff to gather at the main entrance to cheer them on and celebrate their journey. For safety reasons, only students and authorized staff may enter the buildings during the walk-through; parents and guests are kindly asked to remain outside. Thank you for helping us give the Class of 2025 an amazing send-off!

Message from Nurse Mahmud: Please take note of the following information out of the health office regarding the 2025-2026 school year:
All students:
Medication Forms
If your child will need medication given at school please have your pediatrician complete the designated form(s) found on our district website https://www.ryeneck.org/district-departments/health-services. This includes any medication given as needed, daily, or in case of an emergency. Also included are 'self-carry' forms (if applicable). Medications cannot be administered by the school nurse without these forms signed by the child’s pediatrician and parent/guardian. New forms are required every school year.
6th grade entering 7th grade AND 8th grade entering 9th grade in September 2025
New York State requires completion of a physical exam by your child’s pediatrician for all incoming 7th graders and 9th graders. Vision/Hearing and BMI screenings are required by NYS and need to be completed by your doctor during the physical exam. Physicals completed on or after 9/1/24 are acceptable to submit for the 2025-2026 school year. Please keep a copy for your records.
Public Health Law Section 2164 requires all students entering or attending grade 7 to receive an adequate dose of the vaccine against meningococcal disease prior to the start of school on September 2nd, 2025. More information from the NYS Department of Health.
Parking Reminder from the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department: In an effort to educate drivers and continue to be safe on the roadways, the Village of Mamaroneck Police Department would like to remind drivers to not park or stop over a crosswalk, and to not park less than 30 feet from a stop sign, as this can be a safety issue, and you might receive a summons. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping the roads safe!
