School Updates
Court of Creativity Contest
Sandhill is a TOP 10 FINALIST in the Nation Wide Harlem Globetrotter Court of Creativity Contest!!!!! We’ve been awarded $1,000 and are in the running to get a visit from the Harlem Globetrotters along with a catered lunch courtesy of Jersey Mike’s! In PE, Sandhill students showcased their creative basketball tricks during our basketball unit and their amazing school spirit in numerous cheers (along with a clip of Mr. Johnson strategically missing a pie to the face only to get Mrs. Dozois instead who was waiting behind him to shoot a free throw). These clips were put together in a joyful and entertaining video and then submitted into the contest. We were over the moon to find out that we are a Top 10 Finalist in this contest and are so proud of our students for participating and believing in our school’s ability to get to this point! We will find out if we’ve won the grand prize in early May (fingers crossed, but grateful to have made it this far).

SAFETY DRILLS SPRINGS 2025
During the week of April 28, classroom teachers will be reviewing with our students what to do if there is an emergency. For our littlest learners, we introduce these concepts through the book “I’m not scared. I’m prepared!” The information we provide is brief and offers them reassurance that there are many adults here to protect them. For our 3-5 students, we work through the ALICE protocol in a child-friendly, informative and non-threatening way.
Safety drills help us evaluate our emergency operations plan, improve our response skills and prepare our students and staff in the event of an actual emergency. At the close of the drill, we will send out a message to families informing you that the drill is complete.
If you would like resources to talk with your children at home, the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) offers a number of excellent resources for talking with children about school safety. Click here to read more.

School District Updates
Important Health Update:
You may have seen in the news that there has been a rise in measles cases recently. Measles can spread fast at school and make people very sick. Measles can be serious, especially for children under 5, pregnant people, and those with weakened immune systems. The best way to stay protected and keep our school community safe is to get vaccinated. If you have not yet been vaccinated with the MMR vaccine now is a great time to do so! Unvaccinated students and staff may face exclusion from school for up to 21 days following exposure to a measles case.
